2026 Season Schedule

One year ago, Kevin Mays came home.

Tonight, BSN speaks with the Palm Bay head coach as he enters his second season leading the Pirates and his 14th overall as a head coach.

A 1991 Palm Bay graduate and former assistant coach on the Pirates’ 2000 and 2002 state championship teams, Mays returned with one goal: restore the pride, tradition, and identity of one of Brevard County’s most storied football programs.

Mays also wants to win and his resume speaks for itself.

The 2025 season wasn’t easy. With just 25 varsity players, the Pirates finished 2-8, but Mays believes lasting success starts with building a foundation, not chasing quick fixes.

That process includes reconnecting Palm Bay football with its championship roots.

All but two assistant coaches are Palm Bay graduates including former Pirate greats Joe Cohen and Mike Degory, who along with Mays are helping to mentor the next generation.

The Pirates are continuing to strengthen their roster retention in one of the most competitive recruiting areas in Brevard County.

The Pirates also showed encouraging signs this spring with a very competitive performance against Sebastian River, giving the program momentum heading into fall camp.
