COMMUNITY HELP NEEDED — CHAINSAW
I’m sure many people in the area have been affected by the storm, with downed branches and trees. Unfortunately, we’re dealing with it here at Mended Sparrow as well.
At this time, I’m reaching out because we could really use some help. Does anyone have a chainsaw they would be willing to loan us so we can get these downed branches cleared off the fence? Please call 757-401-1015.
Greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

One of the hardest parts of running a nonprofit isn’t the work itself—it’s realizing that not everyone supports what you’re trying to accomplish.
Mended Sparrow was founded to serve active-duty service members, veterans, first responders, similarly situated individuals, and their families by partnering them with horses in an environment built on respect, education, and connection.
It’s disappointing when a nonprofit dedicated to serving active-duty service members, veterans, first responders, similarly situated individuals, and their families is singled out in this way. While there is no active HOA with the authority to dictate who may access our property, and Mended Sparrow is not violating any laws, attempts have still been made to discourage those visiting our farm.
Actions speak louder than words. When barriers are placed in front of a mission dedicated to serving active-duty service members, veterans, first responders, similarly situated individuals, and their families, it says a great deal about the support that mission receives.
Despite that, our commitment remains unchanged. We will continue opening our gates, serving those who have served others, and focusing on the people who need us—not the obstacles placed in our path.
To everyone who has supported Mended Sparrow, thank you. Your encouragement allows us to keep moving forward.

🦷 Dental Day at Mended Sparrow! 🐴
This past Monday was an important day for our herd as everyone received their annual dental examinations and floating, along with wellness exams and vaccinations.
A thank you to Dr. Cole Kourgelis and the incredible Woodside Equine Clinic team for providing such outstanding care. We truly appreciate having a team that can take care of our horses’ dental needs, wellness exams, and vaccinations all in one visit, making the day efficient and much less stressful for the herd.
A special shout-out goes to little Orion, who was an absolute champ during his wellness exam! We couldn’t be prouder of how well he handled everything.
Preventive care is one of the most important investments we can make in the health and well-being of our horses, and we’re grateful to have such knowledgeable professionals helping keep our herd happy and healthy.
Thank you again, Dr. Kourgelis and the entire Woodside team, for your exceptional care and dedication! ❤️🐴

Volunteer Spotlight: The Preston Family! ❤️🐴
A huge thank you to the Preston family for spending part of your Saturday morning at Mended Sparrow helping with the mats in our run-through! Your hard work replacing mats, rearranging them, and getting everything prepped so they can be repositioned again is greatly appreciated.
Projects like these may happen behind the scenes, but they make a big difference in helping us maintain a safe and functional environment for everyone who visits the farm.
Thank you for sharing your time, hard work, and servant’s heart with Mended Sparrow. We truly appreciate all you do! 💙
