I’m disappointed I didn’t get Olympic softball tickets today—but I’m also incredibly excited about what the reason says about the state of our sport.

I was selected for the second ticket drop, and by the time my purchase window opened, softball was already SOLD OUT.

Think about that.

Women’s softball will have a per-game capacity of roughly 13,000 fans, compared with approximately 56,000 for men’s baseball.

And the demand for softball continues to grow.

The Women’s College World Series has been setting record after record for attendance and television viewership. In 2026, the WCWS averaged 1.6 million viewers across 16 games, and the championship drew 2.5 million viewers—the most-watched college softball game ever.

Those numbers are incredible for our sport.

As someone who loves softball and loves watching young girls grow up playing this game, I don’t look at a sold-out Olympic venue as something to complain about.

I look at it as proof.

People want to watch women’s softball.

People are showing up.

The next generation of girls is growing up watching packed stadiums, nationally televised games, and female athletes competing on some of the biggest stages in sports.

Hopefully the continued growth means that the next time venues and capacities are being planned, softball gets an even bigger stage.

For now, I’ll happily take being disappointed that I couldn’t get tickets because too many people wanted to watch women play softball.

That’s a pretty awesome problem for our sport to have. 🥎

This group battled through 8 games, finished 5-3, and never stopped believing in each other. Every player contributed, every family supported, and every coach poured into these girls. We couldn’t be more proud.
