I don’t talk about this often, but I think it’s time. I know firsthand what it’s like to be on the receiving end of a brand’s bullying, and it’s exactly why I hold the line on how we talk about others in this industry. Education should inform, not injure. 💜
Somewhere along the way, some people in this industry decided that being harsh is the same as being honest. That the meaner the delivery, the more “real” the message must be. It’s not. Cruelty doesn’t make a point more valid. It just makes it easier to ignore, because now the audience isn’t focused on the lesson, they’re focused on the show.
Real accountability sounds boring compared to a callout. It’s a private message. A factual post with no names attached. A direct conversation instead of a public one. It doesn’t need laughing emojis. It doesn’t need an audience nodding along. It just needs to be true and it needs to be said with the same respect you’d want if the roles were reversed.
And real education builds people up while it corrects them. It assumes the person didn’t know, not that they’re an idiot for not knowing. It gives them a way to do better, not just a reason to feel small.
If your version of “holding people accountable” leaves someone humiliated instead of informed, that was never accountability. That was bullying wearing a nicer word.
You can care about doing this industry right and still be kind to the people in it. Those two things were never in competition.

I am different in so many ways, but my drive for education, knowledge, and innovation is stronger than ever. My voice doesn’t shake when I speak my truth. I will always advocate for education and accountability with kindness. You can innovate and push forward without putting anyone down.

I am so excited for our first Lashcon as a brand this year!
I encourage you to go to lashcon if it’s the only conference you attend this year. Out of all of the conferences I have attended, lashcon is the best because you can decide where you want your attention! Marketing? There’s a class for that. Lash lifting? Yep, there’s a class for that. UV Lashing? We aren’t hosting a class, but will be attending as a panel with PLA • Paris Lash Academy . You want to learn the flower bouquet method? LBLA has a class for that!
So you learn what you want! And skip what doesn’t serve you.
Want $100 off your tickets? Use code EVLO100 to get $100 off your lashcon tickets!
Contact thelashconference for any questions! And we will see you in September!!
