Founder of Yoga and Movement with Maude. I primarily teach yoga in the corporate space. I am independent Yoga instructor.

I own Yoga and Movement with Maude LLC and I have my own website- www.maude.yoga.

My teaching changed a little over 10 years ago when we moved to Charlotte.

Without my studios to lean on to, I had to really find my own voice. There were no hot yoga scripts or special barre studio cues.

Moreover, this led to me changing the way that I practiced.

I realized I didn’t need my yoga practice to be another workout. I needed it to balance all the working out I was doing.

That shift eventually led me deeper into my breathing practice. Truly exploring how breathing helped me with my burpees as well as it would my sleep and focus.

And when I became ill five years ago and there were periods when I physically couldn’t do very much, my breathing practice saved me from being depressed and discouraged.

I can safely say it helped carry me through some very difficult days mentally.

That is part of what I want to share at The Breathing Room event on September 12.

I want to give people the space to learn about your breath, practice in your own comfort, experience a little sprinkle of sound bath, and journal what comes up.

I would love to lead this practice with you. 💛

So grateful for last Friday’s floating sound bath. Save for one person, it was everyone’s first time, and it’s always an honor for me to be someone’s first experience!

04/20/2026

Some questions I have been getting about my floating sound bath.

Q: I cannot swim. What should I do?
A. We assure those who are not comfortable at the deep end that their floater will remain on the shallow end.

Q: Do I have to be on the water?
A: No, you can still experience the sound bath from your may or from one of our 4 pool beds

Q: I am pregnant. Is that ok?
A. I have had pregnant participants in the past who have enjoyed the FSB with no issues. We assist everyone getting in and out of the water. That being said, if your doctor or medical guardian advises you not to participate for whatever reason or if you are generally uncertain about joining, then you probably shouldn’t participate.

Q: I do not practice Yoga. Can I still join?
A: Absolutely. While I guide folks with some gentle movement at the start, being a Yoga practitioner is not a requirement.

Q: Do I have to interact with other people?
A: Only if you want to.

Doing the public classes for 2 days only this spring, April 24 and May 1.

I am so sick of this s**t and turning my emotion into motion, the best way I can. I Invite you all to join me.

Safe Space Yoga:
Community Compassion in Motion

This is a 1-hour, beginner-friendly Yoga practice offered by donation in support of the immigrant community, and anyone carrying stress, grief, fear, or fatigue right now.

I am an immigrant. I know what it’s like to live with the extra layers: watching your words, weighing your visibility, holding your breath in public spaces, navigating systems that do not always feel built for you.

But now it is no longer just about immigrants. It is about anyone and everyone standing up against the atrocities done to those who only want to protect. This class is a place to exhale, return to your body, and practice steadiness TOGETHER.

My personal note on community values:
Difference in opinions is welcome here and in my business. But I do not make space for the defense of harm, or for the perpetuation of privilege that dismisses other people’s safety, dignity, or humanity. This is a compassion-centered container.

You are welcome to keep your camera off, participate quietly, and simply receive the practice.

Accessibility:
Beginner-friendly with options for different bodies and energy levels.

By donation: Give what you can.
No one will be turned away.

The biggest thing I learned this year is that…

Good things take time.

This is how I know that it will take me weeks to fully process what happened in 2025.

Yes, I have snippets of what transpired.

And my word for the year is DUALITY.

Highest of the highs.
Lowest of the lows.

But what did it really teach me?

How did it affect me?

What am I becoming because of it?

I still do not know.
And I am in no hurry for answers.

Technically, the year of the Horse does not start until February 16, 2026.

So I am going to pace myself and let 2025 truly end in my heart.

Closing a chapter emotionally sounds more real to me right now.

And I love that I can keep the door ajar for a bit longer.

To those who supported me this year,
To those who went to my events,
To those whom I connected through Yoga At Work,
To my teachers, and to all teachers,
To students whose dedication amaze me,
To my new and old friends,
To those who continue to inspire me,
To those who keep it real,
THANK YOU.

I wish us all more presence and more blessings. 💙💙 Happy New Year everyone!

At 10:30 am today, Winter Solstice officially starts.

During my Solstice Serenity sound bath yesterday, I described the solstice as not only the longest night of the year but it is the day when the sun seems to “stand still” before the light begins its slow return. As if to say, “Go ahead darkness. Do your thing. I will just be right here waiting for my gradual elongation.”

A perfect day to wind down easy and welcome the night.

Thank you to those who came yesterday. It was my last event of 2025 and it is always an honor to close the year with serenity and calm in the presence of like-hearted people.

Warm hugs to everyone! ❄️☃️🧣
