This question makes people uncomfortable β€” but it's one of the most important conversations in the body of Christ right now.

Can a Christian be demonized?

Not possessed in the Hollywood sense. But influenced? Affected in specific areas? Operating with spiritual access points that haven't been closed?

The answer from Scripture is yes. And I've seen it hundreds of times in ministry.

A believer can be genuinely saved, Spirit-filled, and still have bloodline access points, unrenounced agreements, or trauma doors that give the enemy ongoing influence in specific areas of their life.

This is why people pray about the same things for decades with no change. This is why some breakthrough won't come through more willpower or more faith or more fasting alone.

The legal rights have to be identified and revoked. That's deliverance work. And it changes everything.

When God told Andrea and I to come back to Maryville, Tennessee β€” we were at the height of global ministry.

600 churches in Haiti. Several thousand in India. A missions office. A movement at full momentum.

And God said β€” give it all away. Come back.

No marketing strategy. No ad campaign. No grand launch plan. Just a small building β€” barely a thousand square feet β€” and a conviction that this has to be born out of intercession.

So we went in and prayed. That's it. Just prayed.

And then one morning I opened the door β€” and was hit with a fragrance I'd never smelled. Something I could only describe as the fragrance of the Lord. Filling that little building. Almost healing to breathe in.

My pastor friend came up from Georgia. Literally fell through the door when I opened it. The presence of God was that tangible.

We crawled to the altar. Lay on the floor. And then God picked me up and showed me a vision β€” two major roads intersecting right here in Maryville, making an X.

Fire of God burning up one road. Crossing the intersection. Spreading down all four directions.

The Lord said: X marks the spot.

The prayers that day were for revival and awakening. And the building we were in was on one corner of that exact intersection.

That was the prophetic blueprint for what God was building.

But it didn't come through strategy. It came through intercession.

Principalities showed up to oppose it. Objects placed on the church. An animal gutted on our front porch β€” intestines strewn across it. Real, dark, territorial resistance.

But we walked in the glorious authority of Jesus. And we kept going.

Most people don't know the difference between visualization and actually hearing from God.

And that gap is costing them β€” either through deception or through dismissing something real that God is actually showing them.

Here's how to tell the difference β€” practically, step by step.

Close your eyes. Paint an elephant on the screen of your imagination. See it? Good. You chose to see it. That's your imagination operating in the natural β€” you painted the screen yourself.

Now paint a monkey. Done? Same thing. You directed it. You produced it. That's self-generated imagination.

Now here's where everything shifts.

"Jesus β€” we yield this screen of our imagination to You. Is there something You want to show us visually?"

And then you watch. You don't paint. You don't project. You don't manufacture.

You receive.

That's not visualization. That's submission. That's learning how heaven actually communicates with you β€” using the same faculty, but with a completely different source directing it.
Some seers will see a great deal very easily. Others won't see as much. That's not a spiritual ranking β€” that's just how God wired different people.

But here's what's true for everyone β€” many people are already seeing things from God and dismissing it as their own imagination. Because nobody ever broke it down and showed them what was actually happening.

That changes today.

Locate the screen. Exercise the faculty. Yield it to Jesus. Watch what He puts on it.

That's the difference between visualization and hearing from God.

Real talk about the deliverance calling.

This isn't prosperity gospel ministry where everything is smooth and blessed. This is warfare. This is carrying the burden of seeing captives everywhere and feeling responsible to help them.

It costs you comfort, acceptance, and sometimes relationships.

But it also transforms you into someone who can truly set captives free.

Worth the cost?

Ephesians 4:11 β€” Christ Himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and the teachers.

Not the Holy Spirit. Christ Himself.

These aren't the nine gifts of the Spirit listed in Corinthians. These are gifts of a different order entirely. When Jesus ascended, Scripture says He gave gifts back β€” of Himself β€” to the Church.

That's why these five functions carry such distinct weight. Each one isn't just a role or a title. Each one is an aspect of who Jesus is and what He's still doing in the earth today.

The apostle demonstrates something of Christ. The prophet demonstrates something of Christ. The evangelist, the pastor, the teacher β€” each one carries and expresses a dimension of who He is.

Jesus chooses people. He gives of Himself to them. And they begin to demonstrate that aspect of Him to the world.

Now β€” if you've never heard this language before, the word apostle can sound unusual. Almost alarming. Like some elevated, exclusive spiritual rank.

It's not.

It's a function. Like a plumber has a function. Like a carpenter has a function. Apostles have a function. Pastors have a function. Different roles. Different assignments. All necessary. All given by Christ.

The body needs all five to function the way it was designed to.

When you understand different kinds and levels of demons, everything changes.

Most people think fear, anger, and lust are these massive, powerful spirits.

But here's the reality:
They're actually low-ranking in the demonic kingdom structure.

They're foot soldiers. Not generals.

Does that mean they're not real? No. Does it mean they can't cause damage? Absolutely not.

But it does mean you don't need to be intimidated by them.

When you understand hierarchyβ€”that there are princes over regions, chiefs over strongholds, and then common spirits under themβ€”you realize what you're actually dealing with.

And you learn to address them with the appropriate level of authority.

You don't negotiate with a foot soldier the same way you would confront a principality.

You don't spend hours interrogating a low-level spirit when you should be going after the chief.

Understanding rank changes how you do deliverance.

And it removes the fear that keeps most people from stepping into this ministry.

The biggest mistake I see leaders make in spiritual warfare isn't a lack of faith or authority.

It's a lack of intelligence.

They walk in with good intentions and genuine anointing β€” but no specific knowledge of what they're actually dealing with. They pray against "the enemy" in general. They command things to leave without knowing the legal rights that keep them in place. And when breakthrough doesn't come β€” or when people return to the same bo***ge β€” they blame themselves.

Here are the two questions that changed everything for me.

When I enter any territory β€” a nation, a city, a family line β€” I ask:

1. Lord, what is the narrative of hell over this area?
2. What is Your word over this area?

Most people can answer the first one. The enemy's lies are visible. But getting the Word of the Lord β€” the prophetic identity, the destiny God has declared β€” that requires time in intercession. And most leaders skip that step.

When you know both, your intercession becomes targeted. And targeted intercession produces different results than generic spiritual warfare.

Fresh out of the water. Heaven just opened. The Father just spoke identity over Him.

"You are My beloved Son. In You I am well pleased."

The greatest affirmation ever spoken over a human being. And immediately after β€”
The Spirit drove Him into the wilderness.

Same word. Ekballo.

Not led. Not guided. Driven.

Into difficulty. Into testing. Into 40 days of confrontation with the enemy.

Nobody wakes up excited about the wilderness. We can spiritualize it all we want. But in that moment β€” fresh from His baptism β€” Jesus was ekballowed by the Holy Spirit into the hardest stretch of His earthly life.

And yet. Angels ministered to Him there.

And when He came out? He walked into the most powerful public ministry the world had ever seen.

Here's the principle that will reframe every hard season you've ever walked through:
The Holy Spirit doesn't always lead you around difficulty. Sometimes He drives you directly into it.

Not because He's abandoned you. Because He's preparing you.

The wilderness you're trying to escape might be the very place the anointing for your next season is being formed.

There's a pastor with a calling. He's far from the main fellowship. Something is stirring on his side of town.

And the question is β€” how do you move forward without crushing it before it starts?

Be slow to formalize things.

The moment you put a structure around something prematurely β€” every expectation, every pressure, every comparison to what someone else built β€” lands on that person all at once. And instead of following life, they start following a model.

That's not how Kingdom works get started.

Here's what actually works:
Hey β€” you're a good distance from the fellowship. Why don't you invite some people over to your house and just go after God tonight? No pressure. No expectations. Intercession, a meal, see what God does.

If it's in his heart β€” he'll light up at that. If it's not β€” you'll know quickly.

And if God moves that night β€” if people get touched, if something real happens β€” then you say: do it again. In a couple weeks. See what happens.

You're not planting a church. You're watching for life.

Because life is what you build on. Not a calendar. Not a commitment. Not a structure that needs filling every week.

Pick a street. Do some intercession over the area. Watch for where God is already moving. And follow that.

Don't announce the building. Follow the fire.
