Looking for working students for Sat/Sun 9 am and M-F pms starting at 4:30. Min age 14. Max age 18. This is not a paid position but it comes with some excellent perks such as showing opportunities, reduced rates, riding opportunities, learning multiple skills, communication, leadership etc. You must be in our lesson program to be a WS.

~🌸~This is an incredible opportunity for those that have the desire to learn. We teach and train numerous aspects of care, training and management, we provide a safe and lovely place for teens to build work experience, education, friendships, contacts all while always receiving support. This is a very fun job for the right person. We have had an excellent program for 3 decades and tons of references from parents and former working students that we are happy to provide.

Just had this convo today with a young one. 💕💕💕

“But I AM trying.”

I think most of us have said some version of this at one point or another.

And maybe you are, but I came across this quote recently:

“Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did.”

And I think there’s an important distinction there.

Working hard for a week is hard.

Working hard when you’re excited about a new goal is hard.

Working hard when you can see immediate progress is hard.

But then you get tired of working hard.

The progress slows down. The novelty wears off. You’ve already put in a tremendous amount of effort and somehow there is still more work to do.

Horses are particularly good at teaching us this.

You can put months into developing strength and still need more strength. You can have a great week of training followed by a decidedly mediocre one. You can spend years developing a horse and still find yourself working on the same basic concepts you were working on six months ago.

At some point, “but I AM trying” has to become “I’m going to keep trying.”

Not without rest. Not at the expense of ourselves or our horses…

But with the understanding that most worthwhile things take longer than the period of time for which we’re naturally enthusiastic about working toward them.

Hard work gets you started.

Perseverance is deciding the work is still worth doing after you’re tired of doing it.
