Hosting and directing a tournament is harder than people might think. To attract competitors, they need to believe there will be sufficient competitors to match with. So it can be very difficult to elbow your way into a crowded market. Then, it is frequently the case, that you are forced to create matches that wouldn't be your first choice. But are really all that you have to work with. Beyond that you also have to make trade offs when managing a competitive balance. You are caught between, "Let them fight," or, "keep them safe." These are not necessarily mutually exclusive, but they require a kind of balancing act that is very difficult to accomplish in CERTAIN divisions. Then you discover that certain academies are not-so-cordial rivals, and those rivalries show up in unfortunate and obnoxious ways. And all of this must be balanced, while providing something that people will feel has given them their money's worth and gotten them home before the new year!
We at Team Blue welcome the challenges. And we appreciate everyone's perspective. And with every attempt, we feel we edge closer to a world class event. Thank you to everyone who attended, and we hope to see you at the winter iowagames event in January.

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make this another successful tournament. We were more ambitious this year. We went from 4 events to 8!! We added electric scoring to continuous point. We added cameras to capture the action. And we created regulation octagon rings. We also worked very hard to generate a staging and division generation process that was quicker, flexible and simpler to use at the ring level. We are encouraged by the results and eager to close gaps and make it even better next year. We hope everyone had fun and look forward to seeing everyone again

(Forms, breaking, continuous point sparring)
All under 7 year olds
7-8 year olds
9-10 year olds
11-12 year olds
All olympic sparring for 12 year olds and younger
Grand champion rounds for 12 and younger forms
(Forms,breaking, continuous point sparring)
13-14 year olds
15-17 year olds
Adult divisions color then black belt.
