๐พ THE SWEET SPOT ๐
This weekโs Sweet Spot is twice as sweet! Meet Malini Wijesinghe & Hugo Westrelin - a couple who share a love of tennis, competition, communityโฆand apparently a few memorable racket-sport mishaps. ๐
Malini has been playing tennis for 18 years and added pickleball to the mix in 2020. Her favorite shots? A backhand or low-angle volley. ๐พ
One of her most memorable court moments goes all the way back to college, when she accidentally served a racket straight into the ground. Her coach heard the crack - and when they checked her other rackets, they discovered sheโd apparently been playing with an entire collection of cracked rackets! Luckily Swing City can help with the situation of cracked rackets!
For Malini, though, the best part of tennis goes much deeper. She loves that people of all ages and ability levels can enjoy the game and that thereโs always something new to learn and improve. She credits tennis with challenging her physically and mentally, teaching her life skills, and connecting her with some pretty incredible players and coaches along the way. ๐
Hugo has been playing for 2ยฝ years, and his favorite weapon is the drop shot. His funniest court memory?
๐ โWhen I hit my partner twice in the ear in the same matchโฆ sorry partner :/โ ๐๐ฏ
Thankfully, Hugo says what he really loves is playing with fun people, trying trick shots, and connecting with others in the tennis community. Weโre assuming his partners still agree. ๐
Malini & Hugo are a great reminder of what we love most about racket sports: you can start at any point, keep learning forever, meet some fantastic peopleโฆand collect a few hilarious stories along the way.
Weโre so happy to have these two as part of the Swing City community! ๐๐พ
Thanks for sharing your Sweet Spot with us, Malini & Hugo!
