🏀 WHY USE AN ZL OVERSIZED SHOOTING BALL?

The oversized ball creates a tougher challenge that helps players improve:

✅ Shooting-hand and guide-hand separation
✅ Hand placement
✅ Ball rotation
✅ Precision and touch

But we don’t stay with the oversized ball—the game is played with a regulation basketball.

After shooting with the oversized ball, we immediately switch back to a regular ball. The regular ball suddenly feels lighter, smaller and easier to control almost like she’s shooting nothing.

Now she can feel the difference and carry those adjustments into her regular shot. 🏀

A player can look elite in workouts… then disappear when the game starts.

The handle is sharp.
The jumper is smooth.
The moves work perfectly in an empty gym.

Then the defense gets physical, the game speeds up, and decisions have to be made.

Suddenly, the skills are gone.

That doesn’t always mean a lack of talent or effort. It may mean the gap between learning a skill and using it under pressure hasn’t been closed.

🏀 BUILT DIFFERENT FULL-COURT 3v3v3 LEAGUE 🏀

Six teams are already registered!

This isn’t traditional 3-on-3. Players compete full court, make more decisions, attack more often and develop skills that transfer to real games.

📅 Sundays: October 11, November 1, November 8 and November 15

6th Grade Boys: 4:00–5:35 PM
7th–8th Grade Boys: 5:45–7:20 PM

📍 Birkholz Family Gym in Mankato
💰 $350 per team
👥 Teams consist of 3–5 players
🏀 Maximum of 10 teams per division
🔥 Two games each week for four weeks

NOT EVERY GAME STRUGGLE IS A TRANSFER PROBLEM. 🏀

Before we blame transfer, we need to make sure the player can perform the skill, use it at game speed, recognize the opportunity, and is given the chance to use it.

Sometimes the skill is still developing. Sometimes the opportunity never appears.

But when a player can perform the skill in training and cannot access it during competition, they may be stuck in The Transfer Gap.

The correct solution starts with the correct diagnosis.

Your player may not have a skill problem.

They may have a transfer problem. 🏀

They can execute the move perfectly in training, but when the same opportunity appears in a game, they hesitate, pass it up, or fall back into old habits.

That doesn’t always mean they need another move.

They may need to learn how to:
• Recognize the opportunity
• Trust the skill
• Use it against a live defender
• Execute under pressure
The space between practicing a skill and using it when it matters is what I call:
