Our students have been training hard, and this Saturday, they’re taking the floor to showcase their skills, focus, and martial arts spirit! Come out to the George H. Henderson, Jr. Expo Center to cheer them on and enjoy an action-packed morning.

Wednesday night at Wind in the Pines Kung Fu. Starting at 6pm we have instructor led cardio kickboxing for adults and sparring training for youth. At 7pm we have youth groundfighting and open cardio kickboxing gym. Come by, get in shape, meet some great people, and learn to defend yourself.

We get this question from parents all the time.

Do we teach sport jujutsu meant for tournament points? No.

Do we teach real-world groundfighting designed to keep your child safe, protect them from harm, and help them get back on their feet? Absolutely, yes.

Self-defense doesn't happen on a scoreboard, and real encounters aren't limited to a single range. At Wind in the Pines Kung Fu, there isn't an environment we don't prepare for—we strike, we kick, we throw, we grapple, and we fight on the ground. We give our students the complete toolkit: the awareness to avoid trouble, the skills to handle it if it goes hands-on, and the ability to survive and escape if it hits the pavement.

Huge day for Jibran, Ziyaan, and Alex! 🥋 They represented Wind in the Pines Kung Fu today at the KMA Open Karate Tournament down in Katy, TX.

We were the only kung fu school in the building, and the team absolutely brought it against the competition. We're coming home with:
🥇 3 Gold Medals
🥈 Several Silver Medals
🥉 A Bronze Medal..across Continuous Sparring, Point Sparring, and Breaking!

Huge congrats to the Wind in the Pines Team, and a special shoutout to Instructor Willie for the incredible training he’s put into this competition team. 🐉🔥

Always great to run into Sensei Nichols from Prowling Tigers Huntington. If you are in Huntington, stop by his studio for some great karate lessons.....and definitely hit up his coffee shop (The Dojo Coffeehouse) which is Sifu Brad's official favorite in East Texas. Proud of our fighters stepping up to test their skills! 🥊🔥

While competition isn't our main focus at Wind in the Pines Kung Fu, whenever our martial artists set their sights on the ring, we step up to help them prepare to give it their absolute all.

Wish these guys luck as they represent our gym in their upcoming bouts:

Instructor Willie will be competing locally right here in Lufkin at the Gloves Over Violence Bout on September 19th!

Alex, Ziyaan, and Jibran are hitting the road to represent us in Houston at the KMA Open Championships on September 12!

Win or lose, putting in the work and stepping into the ring takes courage, discipline, and hard work. Let’s show them some love and support as they finish up their training!
