Ohio's Don Gregory, who passed away recently, was on hand for the 13th annual National Short Track Championships 200 at Rockford Speedway in 1978. Gregory and his Camaro #7 finished fifth in the 200 lapper behind race winner Dick Trickle, Mark Martin, Ray Young and Rusty Wallace. A couple of photos show Gregory posing for photographers before the race and racing through the turns at Rockford. Look at the crowd in the one photo! Three interesting photos of the August 1964 fire involving Danny Ballard, from the Dianne Bland collection. I heard a lot about this when I was little. The fire happened during practice and the car was a complete loss. Thank you Ron Thruman for sharing Dianne's pictures! (JG)
