Carter Lake Sailing Club (CLSC) was founded in 1953 to promote sailing on the then new man-made moun

We pride ourselves in our friendly, easy-going atmosphere and great sailing. We have lively and fun activities, great potluck dinners, competitive racing and great camaraderie! CLSC also offers secured docks, a clubhouse complete with kitchen and camping facilities available to its members.

Mark your calendars for the last potluck of the sailing season: OktoberFest. It's happening on Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Clubhouse. The merriment begins at 5 p.m. Hosted by Mike & Jackie Gurley and Andy & Susan Groeger.

Members enjoyed Italian Night at the CLSC Clubhouse. Great to see so many new members ! What an amazing group of sailors, camaraderie, and all the food.

Thank you to Joe and Amanda Pawelski for hosting a fun evening filled with a close-up look at a nearly full moon and karaoke. Our Club is filled with talented singers and some "gosh that was entertaining" singers who sang with passion and "let's have a good time" enthusiasm.

Congratulations to winners of CLSC's Junior Sailing Regatta conducted Friday, July 31, and Friday, Aug. 7: Connor Cain, first place; Evelyn Gurley, second place; and Anderson Gurley, third place. Hats off as well to the top point Junior Sailors: Matthew Woodcox, first; Nathan Woodcox, second; and Ryan Woodcox, third. Congratulations to these and all CLSC Junior Sailors! Every sailor contributed to a season built on competition, camaraderie and continued growth.

Double-hand relay race on Carter Lake for Capri 14 racers this Friday starting at 4 p.m. Bring your own team or get paired on site.

CLSC's first dance party hosted by Club member Jim Foy was a HUGE success! Jim's dance partner Laura patiently provided dance lessons and got Club members on their feet and dancing. DJ Eric's variety of songs kept the evening lively and fun! Who knew the Club had so many dancers. As Social Chair Andrea Mann said, "We sail! We dance! What a club we have!"

SPECIAL MEETING NOTICE. CLSC members are encouraged to attend an informational meeting about the Club having a breakwater. The purpose of this meeting is informational and to obtain input from Club members and to determine Club interest in moving the idea of having a breakwater forward to a formal proposal. This is not a meeting to vote to approve allocation of funds or to vote on the purchase of items to construct a breakwater. Meeting date: Saturday, Aug. 15, starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Clubhouse. The Clubhouse deck's south side is being replaced section by section. THANK YOU to the volunteers who worked in extremely hot weather to make this first section replacement happen. Your dedication, skill and hard work is so very appreciated.

CLSC Junior Sailing Camp culminated with a "Pirates of the Caribbean" fun camp race on Friday afternoon, July 17, and a Junior Sailing Regatta on Saturday, July 18. With the wind cooperating, racers were able to test their sailing skills while having an absolute fun time on Carter Lake. Enjoy these photos of the winners of both events.
