Zoom out far enough and it collapses into four choices: stall, sweep, submit, stand up. Every guard you'll ever play is a setup for one of these.
And no guard is good at all four. Some are built to hold you down and finish. Some are built to move and get you back to your feet. Neither one is wrong — that's just the trade.
