Great night to be on the mats!

Most of the kids are out on vacation but the ones we had worked hard on double leg defense and escaping bottom position.

The adults did 30 minutes of grappling, we then reviewed the Omote Tachi Iai and moved into Kodachi. We reviewed the kata with the Kodachi and how important the control of the timing is.

Nice image from Nawa sensei's book. This shows one of the kata using a jutte vs the sword. This weekend's workshop we will be exploring the dynamics of using shorter tools to engage longer tools.

Within Masaki Ryu is a system of Jutte called Edo Machikata. This school teaches the use of the Jutte along with other tools and concepts.
