On March 28, 2020 the Community Foundation of Louisville planned to update Smoketown on the progress of the development at the corner of Preston & Finzer Streets known as the Smoketown Wheelhouse. We changed our plans to keep our neighbors safe and healthy by preventing the spread of COVID-19. After talking with members of our Wheelhouse Advisory Team, we felt it was still necessary to give Smoketown an update.
On today, April 23, almost 900 Smoketown addresses received a mailed invitation to learn about the history, current status, and next steps for the Finzer St property. Some of you may not have received the mailed invitation, so I personally invite you to watch the video below and visit www.SmoketownFeedback.org. We’re also open to receiving any ideas on how to continue the conversation virtually.

In 2015, two families joined together to support the proud, vibrant, and historic Smoketown community. One family donated two-acres of land at the corner of Preston and Finzer Streets where the family had once made Louisville Slugger baseball bats while the second family contributed financially.
