Here’s what Crystal has to say about her time here at BoomBox! ⬇️

✨What brought you to Boombox and what do you like about being here?
I have worked really hard the past 3-4 years seriously trying to lose weight. Since 2017 I have lost about 165 pounds. At my heaviest I weighed 346 pounds. I knew I was past the just walking on the treadmill stage. So after I had skin removal surgery on my abdomen, I thought I have these “baby abs”. I wanted to tone them and the rest of my body the right way so when I healed from surgery I started looking for a trainer. My husband works at Big O right there he gave me your card and said you should check this place out. I am so glad that I did.
I love the community vibe with Boombox. No matter what level you are at everyone cheers each other on. Everyone, coaches and members are always so helpful in showing you the correct way to do a move or even lending their personal equipment to help you through the workout. Somedays it take the community to push through a workout, I am so thankful to have all of them

✨What is something you’ve overcome while at Boombox?
I have overcome the mentality that I can’t do anything. I have learned I can do anything as long as I keep trying and don’t give up. I couldn’t even do a girl style push up when I started and the other day I was doing regular pushups without struggling to get back up.
I have learned to not quit! Even when I’m tired and I want to stop! I keep going. I’m so thankful for the coaches that don’t let me quit either! They are right there cheering me on even if I’m the last one to finish.

✨What are some of your favorite movements/workouts?
I love dead lifting, especially the sumo deadlifts.
Most of the strength training is my favorite. Although I’m still trying to master the movements, I will get there!

✨What are some of your goals for the next year here?
I want to get better at the barbell movements. I want to be able to do some real wall walks. I want to get past my fear of being upside down, to be able to do a handstand. There’s so much I want to try and learn, to be able to do a pull up would be huge. I know it will take time and practice. I am just completely amazed at all the things I am already doing.

✨What do you think other people need to know about Boombox?
Boombox is definitely a community! It’s not just a gym to go workout in. They always say sometimes it takes a village to do something, well I have found my village! I have found the people that will cheer me on and tell me not to quit!
