Let’s make some noise for our August Angel of the Month: Kwyet Wryot!

This Hollywood Scarlet rocks our world with her dedication on and off the track!

Kwyet started her derby journey with IERD in 2010. Like so many she fell in love with derby
after watching Whip It. In 2013, she added the coed banked track team “Chorizo and Eggs” to her plate while maintaining her roster position on IERD. After 4 years with them, she decided to make the move to SoCal Derby. With SoCal she ended up playing in her first WFTDA playoffs.

Kwyet then joined Angel City, earning her spot on Queens in 2015. Within a few months, with hard work and determination, she was able to secure a spot on Scarlets. She took a leave from playing with Angel City due to having to take care of her kids, but she was still able to contribute to the derby community by coaching IERD.

She also has skated with and is still a part of Fuego Latino. Kwyet is a member of two bitraxual teams, Calsquad and Midway Magic, and skates for MRDA’s California Roller Derby. She loves jamming but has shifted to play more blocker/pivot because of the needs of the team. “Jamming is the easiest when my only focus is running away.”

Outside of her derby history, Kwyet is a nurse and is working towards finishing her last term of nursing school. With that knowledge, she medics for a bunch of games using what she’s learned to help us stay safe. Currently, Kwyet is helping coach Shots this year, and has coached Queens in previous seasons.

She’s event managed, made sure we always have water at the facility, and when she sees a need or something that has to be done she just does it. Kwyet’s contributions are endless. She’s incredibly hardworking, caring, and is always up for the tasks that need help.

Revving things up at 4pm, the Angel City Road Ragers will take on the Wasatch Nightmares, visiting from Salt Lake City, UT.

Anchors away at 6 pm when the Angel City Shore Shots make waves against Arizona’s Skate Riot Project.

The crowning glory at 8 pm brings the Angel City Rocket Queens face off against the Salt Lake City, UT Wasatch Midnight Terrors.
