BMI can be a useful screening tool, but it doesn’t tell the whole story.
We’ve seen clients classified as “overweight” according to BMI while being strong, healthy, and carrying a high amount of muscle mass. We’ve also seen people with a “normal” BMI who have low muscle mass and poor health markers.
Your health is about much more than a number on a chart.
Instead of focusing solely on BMI, pay attention to:
✔️ Body fat percentage
✔️ Muscle mass
✔️ Strength gains
✔️ Energy levels
✔️ Healthy habits
The goal isn’t to fit into a category. The goal is to build a body that is strong, capable, and healthy for the long term.

Things you should NEVER tell your trainer:

“This feels easy.”

The second those words leave your mouth, another plate magically appears on the bar.

Be careful with your words. We hear “easy” and think “challenge accepted.” 😂

One of the biggest mistakes people make in the gym is focusing on doing more instead of doing things better.
The three mistakes I see most often are:
1. Rushing reps – moving too quickly and not controlling the exercise.
2. Lifting too heavy – choosing a weight that is beyond what they can properly handle.
3. Using improper form – which is often the result of the first two mistakes.
When people slow down, choose an appropriate weight, and focus on quality movement, they usually get better results, build more strength, and reduce their risk of injury.
Remember: the goal isn’t to move the most weight possible—it’s to move the weight as well as possible.
