Took the BMW HP2 Megamoto out for a lovely ride today with Mutlu Mike Sivrican. Here are my favorite cars/bikes that we encountered!
I’m thinking about a ~250 mile ride tomorrow morning (headed east to Redlands) if anyone wants to join. Hit me up!

Sound check time on my new-to-me Buell XB12S Lightning!
As you can probably tell, it has the stock exhaust. I think this bike needs a little extra oomph in the sound department considering how aggressive it looks. My gut reaction is to get a Drummer SS (if they’re even still available) but if anyone has suggestions for a Buell exhaust I would LOVE to hear them!
Just know that I don’t want something obnoxiously loud, I’d like to still be friendly with my neighbors...

It’s only taken me about two and half decades but I finally own an American motorcycle! It’s all thanks to my buddy Howard who bought a whole bunch of bikes through Bike-urious years ago and is now selling a significant portion of his collection through Iconic Motorbikes. 2nd photo is one I took of him at the Quail.
It was very satisfying to put the 2027 sticker on the license plate after the bike had been sitting for 7 years (though I’m going to replace it with an Iconic display plate anyway).
I always thought the translucent plastics of the Cherry Bomb were cool and during a visit to his place two years ago I made an offhand comment about it. Then he sent it down to us and “highly encouraged” me to buy it.
I broke it in with a fantastic 200+ mile ride with Mutlu Mike Sivrican and some friends yesterday, though things started poorly thanks to a loose battery cable. Thankfully a couple of buds at the Rock Store had the right tools and a booster box.
Can’t wait to put more miles on my new-to-me Lightning. Thanks, Howard! I promise I’ll give it a good home.

I’ve always wanted to try out a Honda GB500 and today I finally got the chance thanks to Iconic Motorbikes - we just finished up a pre-auction service on it so I took it for a test ride.
What a joy! It’s a lovely tribute to the legendary British singles of yesteryear: torquey, lightweight (365 pounds dry), and super nimble. I didn’t take it on the freeway but this would be such a joy as an in-town machine.
Now I want one (and I’d probably put a pipe on it). But you should buy it instead when it goes up for auction because I just bought something else and am running out of space...more on that tomorrow!

Over at Iconic Motorbikes we just sold an incredible Honda NR750 (with just 1 kilometer on it) to a client in Australia and it came with some extras that I’ve never seen in person before.
The most exciting thing to me is the piston ring compressor for the oval pistons(!), how neat is that?
I wish I could read Japanese...
Went for a ride to Wrightwood today because Sam/Cory Criss is in town, thanks to everyone who joined!
Everyone had great sounding pipes on their bikes so on the way back I stopped and had everyone go through a tunnel for some audio delight!

Today was a great day because it was a BMW Motorrad USA HP2 Megamoto day!
My sole bummer with the bike is the limited fuel range (part of which is my fault because I rarely ride it passively) but the internets taught me@about someone named Markus in Austria who custom built an auxiliary tank for@this and the HP2 Enduro, which is awesome seeing as BMW did not make many of these. I was lucky enough to snag one and Daniel at Iconic Motorbikes made it happen because he’s a legend.
