✨Senior Spotlight: Grace Tankenson✨

After 16 wonderful years with MDSB, Grace Tankenson is graduating from MDSB! Having joined us in 2010, Grace has truly grown up in our studios, and it has been an incredible privilege to watch her blossom into the talented dancer & thoughtful young woman she is today.

We are so excited to share that this fall, Grace will be attending UC Santa Barbara, where she will pursue a degree in Dance. 🎓🩰

From her first days at MDSB to her final performances, Grace has been such a significant part of our school, and we will miss having her around the studio. Santa Barbara may not be far from home, but this marks the start of an exciting new chapter for Grace. We are so proud of her and can’t wait to see where her love of dance takes her next.

Congratulations, Grace! We are so proud of you and can’t wait to watch your journey continue. UCSB is lucky to have you. 💫

✨Senior Spotlight: Axel Sobel✨

Since joining MDSB in 2022, Axel has become an integral part of our studio community. Axel has become a familiar face around our studios, often stepping into our beginner and intermediate boys classes as a teacher and mentor. Over the past few years, he has progressed through many performance roles, including Tarantella, Snow Prince, and, for the past two Nutcracker seasons, Prince. We are beyond excited to share that Axel has accepted a trainee position with Colorado Ballet this fall!

Over the past few years, we have had the privilege of watching Axel grow as both a dancer and a leader. His commitment to his training, willingness to support younger students, and positive presence in the studio have made him someone who is admired by both his peers and teachers.

We couldn’t be more excited for him as he takes this next step in his dance journey. We know he has a bright future ahead and can’t wait to cheer him on from Colorado!

In honor of Father’s Day, we’re sharing a BTS clip of our Dancing Dads from this year’s Once Upon a Relevé🩰

At MDSB, Dancing Dads participating in The Nutcracker is an annual tradition — and this was their first performance as a part of our Spring Benefit. We love our dads at MDSB, and they really rocked the house with this debut! Happy Father’s Day to our Dancing Dads and to all the dads at MDSB. 🤍

From a tiny sheep in Marat’s arms to a soloist on professional stages — swipe to watch Maine Chernjavsky grow up. 🩰

Maine (pronounced My-Nay) began at MDSB as a young dancer performing in the Nutcracker, the way so many of our dancers do. Over the years we watched her rise — from Sheep, to Masha, all the way to the Sugar Plum Fairy — and the role of Tarantella was developed just for her. ➡️

From those first performances she went on to the Graduate Program at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, danced with Tulsa Ballet, and performed as a Soloist with Cincinnati Ballet — a Dance Magazine « 25 to Watch » who’s even appeared on screen in Amazon Prime’s Étoile.

Next week, she comes home. đź’›

Join us for a masterclass with Maine:
🗓 Tuesday, June 16 · 5–7PM
🎟 Open to advanced dancers ages 13+ (Levels 4 and up)
Register at the link in our bio.

Every great career starts somewhere. For Maine, it started with MDSB.

This fall, Lola will be heading to Trinity College Dublin, where she will study Engineering🎓

From countless rehearsals and Nutcracker seasons to years of growth both inside and outside the studio, Lola has been such an important part of our MDSB family. We are so proud of everything she has accomplished and can’t wait to see all that she achieves in this next chapter💫
