This week, we welcome Leah to sit with us.
Where might God be present — not in the deception, but with those whose agency has been ignored?
Our Substack, The Grace Margin, is named for a foundational KI concept where meaningful change happens in the space between comfort and fear. Leah's story is uncomfortable, but grace gives us room to ask brave questions without rushing to tidy the narrative.

Today we celebrate the Rev. Dr. Marcia Patton’s 50th Ordination Anniversary — fifty years of faithful ministry, courageous leadership, and steadfast presence in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Marcia’s work has shaped congregations, nurtured leaders, and strengthened communities with a generosity of spirit that continues to ripple outward.
"Rev. Patton’s journey with Kaleidoscope Institute began during her leadership with the newly founded Evergreen Association of American Baptist Churches in 2003. As Evergreen organized by ethnic caucuses and practiced consensus, KI’s tools and frameworks offered invaluable guidance, helping to form communities rooted in shared leadership and sacred decision-making...." You can learn more about Rev. Patton and her work at the Kaleidoscope Institute in her interview, Sacred Decisions and the Spirit of Consensus.

We give thanks for her witness, her wisdom, and her decades of service to the Church and the world. May her next season be filled with joy, rest, and the same abundant grace she has poured into so many.

Kaleidoscope Text Sharing this week asks: What is the Holy One calling you to do, be, or change? Whose cup of cold water are you being asked to carry — and from whom might you finally let yourself receive one?
Guest author Michael Morrell guides us through this week’s reflection.

Mutual Invitation is how we practice what this quote names: a community where questions are welcomed, not feared.
Gracious Leadership begins with creating spaces where people feel safe to bring their whole, wondering selves.
Our Kaleidoscope Community is built not on having all the answers, but on listening deeply to one another

"Moloch never died. He just changed his letterhead."
In this week's guest reflection, Michael Morrell sits with the Binding of Isaac—and asks the question the lectionary won't let us avoid: not whether Abraham will withhold his son, but whether we will.
On hineni, Leonard Cohen, Douglas Rushkoff, and the cup of cold water that disrupts dehumanization.
