Speaking in tongues is not weird. I think we should stop calling things weird that are actually in the Bible. You cannot read the entire New Testament and not see dozens of examples of the early church speaking in tongues. Operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit is actually one of the promises prophecy through the prophet Joel. When Jesus resurrected and he appeared to the disciples for 40 days, he told them to wait and Jerusalem for them to receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Jesus didn’t even begin his public ministry until he was water baptized, and baptized in the Holy Spirit. Maybe there’s a reason that Satan fights speaking in tongues so much. Could it be because it identifies our spirit and it identifies the church? Could it be because this is where our power comes from? Ask God to fill you and baptize you in the Holy Spirit. And for goodness sake. Stop going to churches that don’t preach the gospel on Sunday and believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit. If your Church is not equipping you and empowering you to be filled with power to go preach the gospel make disciples and raise up leaders to do the same. It’s time to find a new church.
