CLASSES in the Los Angeles area to help people learn about firearms in a welcoming and inclusive space. We want to demystify guns for the most intimidated people, empower the most vulnerable and marginalized communities, and destigmatize responsible gun ownership. We welcome people who are curious or passionate about firearms, but tired of the stigma and stereotype of being a gun owner in liberal circles, and being the minority in conservative-dominated gun spaces.

⚠️ ANNUAL LEAD UPDATE: Lead increased from lowest level 5.5 in 2025 to 8.4 in 2026.
The dirty secret no one in the gun world talks about is lead exposure.
Bullets are made of lead and greatest exposure happens at indoor ranges, which are poorly ventilated by nature of being enclosed.
Takeaways from my own blood results the past 6 years:
- Yes, I was able to lower my lead level and it wasn't just N95 masking. Also gloves, and decontaminating after every lesson with delead hand soap, changing out of range clothes and shoes, and delead shampoo and laundry detergent.
- Inhalation is the greatest risk, which is why it shot back up after mask mandates were removed and I got lazy about it teaching indoors.
- Best lead exposure mitigation is to shoot outdoors. I moved my teaching entirely outdoors in Jan 2023, and lead level instantly dropped.
- I still have students and myself delead wipe our hands before lunch and going home.
- 2025 Lowest level of lead 5.5 so far probably since I was teaching every weekend, I wasn't able to competition shoot for almost a year.
- 2026 I am surprised/puzzled lead went back up to 8.4 even though I am teaching much less...every 4 weeks...much less exposure to live fire but increased lead exposure.🤷♂️🥵
Going to order lead detection kit from great source of education & uncovering lead exposure in everyday life, to see if lead exposure is from a non-shooting source.
While there is always going to be lead exposure living in an industrial society, toxic exposure disproportionately happens in Black and Brown communities, because of pollution allowed to happen in low income areas.
The people most vulnerable to lead exposure are children because their brains haven't fully developed yet, and pregnant women and their unborn children.
Do not bring lead back home to them.
Anyone who shoots regularly should ask their doctor to check their Blood Lead Level (BLL) just like checking their cholesterol and other health metrics in their regular blood work.

Horrific this woman had to go through this and glad she was able to defend herself.
It's difficult to leave an abusive relationship and leaving is one of the most dangerous times because it can provoke violent retaliation.
She had already gotten past that point, but just leaving an abusive relationship doesn't guarantee safety.
If your ex is still a danger and threat, document and film/record all interactions and file a restraining order.
We know that a restraining order isn't enough -- violent abusers are not scared of a piece of paper nor the repercussions of their violence under the law.
Many women have gotten a restraining order and still been violently assaulted or killed by their abusers.
When I used to give Home Defense 101 webinar, one easy way to armor up your home is plastic window security film that makes windows and patio doors shatter resistant, buying you time to be alerted of an intrusion.
Home security systems have window sensors and audible alarms, which could have helped in situations like this where her attacker broke in during early morning hours when she was asleep and taken by surprise.
Our woman instructor, a BJJ instructor, can attest that regardless of gender, hand to hand skills, with or without hand weapons, and physical agility are important for self confidence and self defense.
And we are all different with different physical abilities and limitations. Have many tools and options so a violent physical fight is a last resort:
High lumen light, pepper spray, taser, firearm and the necessary training to be competent with it under pressure and in the dark.
And because this patriarchal world with its globa misogyny & femicide is not teaching boys and men to be better, it's on girls and women to protect themselves on a daily basis.
LAPD is investigating this as justifiable homicide and this young lady has a long road to mental and physical recovery if not lifelong trauma.

Prime example of why you need to learn Stop The Bleed skills, and why our entire team is STB certified.
You are more likely to save someone's life or your own with Stop The Bleed skills than with a gun.
During the World Cup watch party in Koreatown, Luis Romero said he saw a man open fire into the crowd and moved to stop him.
Romero tackled the gunman, but the suspect shot him in the leg. The bullet severed an artery.
Several bystanders attempted to apply makeshift tourniquet with clothing and belts but none of those worked.
Romero says he didn't feel a difference until officer Helen Zheng applied an actual tourniquet.
People can bleed out in less than a minute and seconds count -- Zheng was in such a hurry to apply the life saving tourniquet, she didn't have time to put gloves on.
So takeaways:
- Like we learned in STB training where we had to apply tourniquets on others and ourselves so tightly it hurt...no amount of improvised belts or clothing comes close to putting enough pressure to stop arterial bleed.
- Seconds count and even if you have gloves, you might not have time for putting on PPE, and have blood all over you. I learned that when I was trying to help a gunshot victim in my 20s.
- If you are going to intervene against an armed individual, whether you are armed or not, getting shot is a likely outcome. Why I carry an IFAK if I'm carrying concealed and advise pepole to at least have one in your car.

Thankful for feedback from June students 🙏
We love getting honest feedback from anonymous survey we send all attendees to help us continually provide the best experience for folks most afraid of guns.
We don't glamorize, romanticize nor glorify guns here.
We don't describe ourselves as pro-gun nor anti-gun.
We are 100% unapologetically Pro Self Defense by any means necessary.
And we think the most vulnerable, marginalized folks should have all the means.
Self defense is your human right and that right should be accessible to all.
But buying & owning a gun doesn't automatically make you safer.
If you don't take your education and responsibility of gun ownership seriously, statistically you're more likely to harm yourself or someone you love or didn't intend to harm.
We make sure people learn to be safe & responsible from day 1 and consider the decision to own a gun seriously and not casually like most people in the gun world.

🥳 Today is our 6 Year Anniversary!😭🤗
😷 2020: What a wild ride it's been since humble beginnings as a FB group during COVID & George Floyd protests.
Got certified as a pistol instructor and range safety officer that same year.
🔫 2021-2022: Started carrying concealed and became a Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) trainer.
Achieved B-class in USPSA competition in 6 months.
📺 2025: To meet demand, streamlined Pistol 101 into a faster, lower cost class, with Friendly Intro to Fi****ms video students watch at home.
Discontinued weekend CCW classes & partnered with another school to teach on our behalf. Only teaching CCW privately on weekdays.
🇲🇽 Moved to Mexico.
🏳️🌈 2026: Launched Women, Femmes & Thems Pistol 101, led by woman instructor and q***r team, as a safe space for women, femmes, trans & non-binary folks.
Launched 2-Class Packages to help people save money and continue their training.
We have a great team of folks now who are leading Pistol 101/Pistol 101+ and Pistol 102 Try Before You Buy classes.
