Everyone wants to carry a gun...no one wants to learn how to shoot.🤡🤷♂️
Incidents like this of people so bad, they harm innocent bystanders are why I make sure our Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) are 12 hours of range time, and only 4 hours classroom.
I want to make sure people certified to carry guns in public learn realistic advanced skills and not endanger bystanders.
I want to sleep with a sound conscience knowing I'm not sending people out into our streets being a liability to the entire general public.
Not sure if this McDonald's employee was in legal possession of this gun, but it could be any average Florida resident since the state doesn't require a permit to carry a gun concealed.
In permitless states, as long as you're legally able to own a gun, you can carry them concealed with absolutely no education and training required.

☀️ It was a hot 3 days of teaching Pistol 101/101+ in the heat this past weekend!
Safety is paramount, so we canceled afternoon classes to avoid heat related risks.
The morning folks did great with Val & team!

Weekend Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) classes are back!🙌
After taking a break for 1 year and only being available privately, weekend group classes to get initial training or renew your permit are available starting October 2026.
Private CCW training is available Mon-Fri.

It's been straightforward to apply for a CCW permit since 2022:
1. Apply with your local law enforcement dept. in L.A. County.
2. Attend interview and some L.A. cities require a psych evaluation.
3. After background check, they will approve you for the final step: the mandatory training.
Most CCW schools lecture you in a classroom with very little actual shooting.
We are the opposite: majority training is at the range because we will make you better shooters for the serious responsibility of carrying a gun in public.
We want everyone in your life to take advantage of a rare opportunity to learn advanced, realistic skills that could save lives while not endangering innocent bystanders.
So we're the only CCW school that invites your family/friends to join you, even if they're not applying for a CCW, so you all become more capable, responsible shooters together.
LAPS clients who've taken 2 classes within 1 year get credited 8 hours towards initial 16hr training, and also get 10% off using LAPS10.
If you already have a permit, renew with LAPS and get your heart rate up shooting on the move in our Run & Gun class.
Some agencies now let you add new guns to your permit anytime and not have to wait until your renewal.
Non-CA residents can now apply for a California CCW permit with us.

🚨 TEXAS OFFICER ACCUSED OF KILLING THREE PEOPLE IN MEXICO, ABDUCTING 3-YEAR-OLD SON
A devastating cross-border tragedy has left three people dead, a young mother fighting for her life, and a 3-year-old boy without much of his family.
Authorities say Chad Eberle, 35, a now former Bexar County Precinct 2 deputy constable and former Texas law enforcement officer, traveled to Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, where he allegedly went to the home of his former partner, Litzy Anahí Mora De León, during a custody dispute involving their 3-year-old son.
According to Mexican authorities, an argument erupted after family members refused to let Eberle take the child. Investigators allege he opened fire inside the home, killing Ana Laura De León Morín, the child's grandmother, Emmanuel Montero, the grandmother's partner who helped raise the boy, and Laura Jackelyn De León, the child's aunt.
Authorities say Litzy was shot in the head and remains hospitalized in critical condition. The 3-year-old boy was also injured.
Investigators allege Eberle then fled with the child toward the U.S. border but was arrested Tuesday night at International Bridge II in Piedras Negras, before crossing into Eagle Pass, Texas.
The child was safely recovered and is now in the custody of Coahuila's child protection agency while authorities determine his long-term care.
Mexican prosecutors have accused Eberle of femicide and homicide, and extradition proceedings are expected as the criminal case moves forward.
The tragedy has sparked outrage on both sides of the border and renewed conversations about domestic violence, child custody disputes, and cross-border law enforcement cooperation.

What students don't see behind the scenes: Us being human too, not afraid to make mistakes and having fun with the process 😅
So it was a 100 degree day, trying to keep my phone covered from overheating in the sun, and getting some quick drills in after teaching.
A really great assessment of our skills and what we need to work on is doing a drill from either a cold start, no warm-up, and/or when exhausted, like we were after teaching in the heat wave.
A fun drill is to shoot 5 shots at 5 yards at a poker card or 3x5 card in under 5 seconds.
In just 5 shots, we can test how fast is the draw to 1st shot, and how consistently our grip pressures are on the gun shooting as soon as we can on a small target without overconfirming sights.
Remember it's not about perfection...it's about progress.
It's about not being afraid to make mistakes because you will learn more about yourself when you push yourself to failure.
You won't know the limits of your ability and push beyond them if you never push yourself outside your comfort zone.
It's about what you're learning and analyzing from your performance without judgment.
It's collecting data to keep pushing for efficiency and improvement.
And never forget to have fun with it!

🎯 Holes in Holes no problem for 1st time nervous shooter with Red Dot
A couple came to our Pistol 101 class nervous about guns and not even sure they wanted to own one yet. They just wanted to get educated first.
1. We love people who don't rush out to buy a gun as a knee jerk reaction.
We want people to make an informed decision before ever touching a gun or buying one.
That's why guns & ammo are already included in Pistol 101.
2. Not everyone can aim well with iron sights, especially someone shooting a gun their 1st time.
We all have different visual abilities and it can be a struggle to align iron sights while keeping one eye closed.
She was struggling with irons, but with a pistol optic, Holes in Holes!
If a trainer only has iron sights or thinks a beginner must master them first before red dot, they are letting their clients down.
Instead of letting a student feel disappointed in themselves because they think they can't shoot well, have the right tool to let them aim accurately with less frustration from their 1st moments.
3. Even from their 1st time shooting a gun, we are already teaching people to take their time to assess every shot.
Every shot is telling you something about your fundamentals.
You should be able to self diagnose how you did well so you can repeat that process.
And analyze what went wrong in your process if you weren't accurate so you can self-correct.
You don't have to shoot a lot of rounds with intentional, purposeful training.
It only takes 20 rounds total in Pistol 101 for a 1st time shooter like her to learn to shoot Holes in Holes.
In contrast to clueless people who dump hundreds of rounds when they go to the range and learned nothing from their time and money wasted.
Our 1st time students who don't even own guns yet shoot better than most people at the pulbic range.
