Today we say goodbye to the golf course that has been part of my entire life.

The place that holds the loudest memories of my dad, a Master PGA Pro, and the quiet ones too. The place my mom and I poured our hearts into together. The place that watched me grow up, fall apart, rebuild, and become who I am today.

I grew up here. I took naps under the golf club racks. I learned patience, discipline, and resilience on these fairways. I practiced my swing, made lifelong friendships, and carried on my dad’s lessons for junior golfers long after he was gone. This course helped raise me, shape me, and steady me through life’s hardest chapters.

This is also where I met my husband. After meeting me, he came out to visit and never hesitated to jump right in. He worked right alongside me, learning the grounds, the maintenance, the early mornings, and the long days. Watching him show up, get his hands dirty, and care for this land the way we did is when I knew he was the one. This course didn’t just shape my childhood, it helped shape my family.

My mom and I shared countless dreams here. After losing my dad, we leaned on each other and on this land. We dreamed of saving the course, of growing grapes, of finding a way to preserve what meant so much to us. Those dreams changed form over time, but every chapter connected, even when we didn’t see it.

Lester, your loyalty, sweat, and commitment kept this place going through some of the toughest seasons. You showed up when it was hard, when it wasn’t glamorous, and when quitting would have been easier.

And to my brother, thank you for carrying the weight with me. For standing in the trenches, protecting Dad’s legacy, and giving everything you had to this course. This place wouldn’t be what it was without your effort and heart.

I’ll miss the smell of fresh-cut grass. I’ll miss the sound of mowers in the early mornings that once served as my alarm clock. I’ll miss the customers who became family, the conversations that turned into life lessons, and the comfort of familiar faces that made this place feel alive.

When my firstborn struggled with colic, our customers worried about me, offered kindness, compassion, and support. When the greens mysteriously died and we faced one of the hardest years of our lives, this place taught us grit. It taught us to never quit, never stop, and to keep smiling because if you push forward long enough, you eventually find the light.

We buried beloved animals here. We planted trees in memory of family members we’ve lost. This land has held our grief, our joy, and our growth. It has watched lives unfold, including ours.

This goodbye comes with an ache that will never fully leave my heart. I am deeply sorry to the land, to our customers, and to everyone who loved this course that I wasn’t enough to keep it going. Please know that every ounce of love, effort, and fight we had was given.

The truth is, if love paid the bills, this place would have been saved. But as we get older, time becomes more precious than anything else. Sometimes labors of love must be laid to rest so we can spend time with our families, slow down, and truly live the moments we still have. None of us are promised tomorrow, and eventually we have to choose time over everything else.

So today, my mom and I choose gratitude, even through the tears.

Thank you to every single customer who stood by us, supported us, and became part of our family. Thank you for trusting us with your time, your stories, and your loyalty. Thank you for loving this land the way we did.

This chapter closes with heavy hearts, but with deep appreciation. The lessons, memories, and love from this place will live on through us forever.
