👋 Meet Shane — The Man Behind the Adventure

If you’ve spent time at Hocking Hills Adventures, there’s a good chance you’ve seen Shane somewhere along the way—keeping things moving, helping guests, or making sure another day of adventure on the river goes just right.

As the owner of Hocking Hills Adventures, Shane is carrying forward a family legacy that has been part of the Hocking Hills for 50 years 🛶🌲

For Shane, this isn’t simply a business. It’s generations of hard work, family memories, days spent along the river, and a love for the outdoors that he now gets to share with thousands of families who visit each year.

Behind every canoe launched, campsite filled, and family headed down the river is a business built by people who truly love this place.

So next time you visit, keep an eye out for Shane and say hello! 👋

Here’s to honoring the generations who built the adventure—and continuing the legacy for the generations still to come.

Through changing seasons and changing times, some things have stayed the same: the beauty of the river, the excitement of a day spent outdoors, and our love for sharing this incredible corner of Ohio with you.

To everyone who has paddled, floated, camped, stayed, explored, worked, and made memories with us over the last five decades—you are part of our story.

“What to Do When You Arrive for Your Canoe Trip”

1. Park and head to check-in. Bring your reservation information and make sure everyone in your group is present.

2. Check in with the staff. They’ll confirm your trip, group size, and any equipment you’ve reserved.

3. Complete any required waivers. Make sure all adults and minors have the proper forms completed before departure.

4. Use the restroom. Grab your life jackets and paddles. Staff will help make sure everyone has the right size life jacket.

5. Secure your belongings. Leave anything you don’t want to risk getting wet in your vehicle. Keep phones, keys, and other essentials in a waterproof bag.

6. Listen to the safety briefing. Staff will go over paddling basics, river conditions, where to exit, and anything you should know before getting on the water.

7. Board the shuttle. Stay with your group and take your equipment with you as directed.

8. Get your canoe and prepare to launch. Staff will help you get situated and point you in the right direction.

9. Hit the river! Paddle at your own pace, enjoy the scenery, and keep an eye out for your designated take-out point.

10. Return your equipment when you finish. Follow the signs or staff instructions when you reach the end of your trip.

Quick tip: Arrive a little early so you have plenty of time to check in, use the restroom, apply sunscreen, and get everyone ready before your scheduled departure.
