Congratulations to WKFFC Qigong and Chen Tai Chi instructor Dr. Henry McCann on the success of the 25th International Seminar on Chen - style Hunyuan Taijiquan and Neigong in Fuzhou City, Fujian, China (8/26/26).

Dr. McCann, as senior disciple of Master Wang Fengming and 3rd generation lineage holder of Chen Style Hunyuan Taijiquan, attended the Baishi Ceremony for new disciples held at the ancestral altar of Masters Chen Fa-ke, Hu Yaozhen, and Feng Zhiqiang. Dr. McCann was Judge for the annual competition and rank/teacher certification tests and also taught students Chen Double Saber and 24 Fighting Canon Fist!

News Flash! We are thrilled to announce that NYU Wushu is officially here! Congratulations to Coach Henry McCann Jr who established NYU Wushu and will be Head Coach of the Wushu Team that will train for competition in the Collegiate Wushu Championships. NYU Wushu is the third major university club / team founded by WKFFC students following Rutgers Wushu by Coaches Janel and Jared, and Fordham Wushu by Melissa Tan. In addition, Coach Brandon Wong founded NJIT Lion Dance. We are proud of you and appreciate your passion and leadership for teaching Wushu, promoting Chinese culture, and giving back to the community.

Grandmaster Tjiong Wing Tak張 榮 達
（1941 - 2024)

Grandmaster Tjiong Wing Tak founded the Shang Wu Athletic Association 尚 武 體 育 會 in Jakarta, Indonesia in 1956 to teach Chinese martial arts. The “Shang Wu” name dates back to the years shortly after the founding of the Jing Wu (Chin Woo) Athletic Association 精武體育會 in 1910 in Shanghai by the renown Kung Fu Master and Hero Huo Yuanjia 霍元甲.

Kung Fu schools in other parts of China which formed the resistance against foreign invasion during the period adopted the Shang Wu Athletic Association name to promote Huo’s philosophy of “Martial Spirit“ (Shang Wu Jing Shen 尚武精神) and to honor his Jing Wu school and lineage.

In later years, “Shang Wu” schools would be opened by Chinese immigrants in other countries. Kung Fu was brought to Indonesia in the 1950s and was known as “Kuntao”. It was kept highly secretive and taught exclusively within Chinese communities. The Shang Wu Athletic Association Indonesia was among the largest schools for learning Lion Dance and traditional Southern Kung Fu styles such as the Five Animals Fist / Ng Ying Kuen 五形拳 in Jakarta Chinatown.

In 2010, Tjiong Wing Tak, his wife Kwong Siu Sing 鄺韶聲, son Allen Tjiong 張 廣 美, and daughter-in-law Jennifer Tjiong 張 珍 妮 founded the Shang Wu Athletic Association and Wushu Kung Fu Fitness Center in New Jersey, USA. The Wushu Kung Fu Fitness Center teaches traditional Kung Fu and contemporary Wushu for health, fitness, competition, and self defense.
