Horses respond to the energy, emotions and intentions we bring into their space because they’re highly attuned prey animals. Horses read shifts in our body language, tension, breath and internal coherence long before we consciously notice them ourselves.
At Elevation Equine, this is how we use that “mirror” during our Equus Coaching sessions:
• Immediate + honest feedback
A horse reflects what’s happening inside of us by how they choose to engage. If we’re anxious, guarded, unclear, or disconnected, they often show it through distance, hesitation, or lack of focus.
• Nonjudgmental reflection
Their responses aren’t personal, they’re informative. This creates a safe space for people to explore emotions without shame or pressure.
• Embodied awareness
Instead of talking about feelings, we feel them in real time. As we shift to soften our breath, find clarity and ground our energy, the horse shifts too.
• Learning through relationship
Participants begin to see how inner states impact connection, communication and boundaries. The horse’s softness encourages participants to meet themselves with the same gentleness.
In a horse’s calm presence, you’re invited to slow down, reflect, feel and meet your own truth with compassion instead of judgment.

So what exactly is equine therapy and/or coaching?
Well, to put it simply, it’s therapy or coaching with horses but I’ll elaborate a bit more for you.
There are many different types of Equine Assisted Therapies but almost all fall into one of four categories:
1. HIPPOTHERAPY
The use of horseback riding as a therapeutic or rehabilitative treatment, especially as a means of improving coordination, balance, and strength.
2. EQUINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY
A form of therapy that uses horses to help people address mental health and emotional challenges.
3. THERAPEUTIC HORSEBACK RIDING
A recreational activity that uses horses to help people with disabilities improve their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being.
4. EQUINE ASSISTED LEARNING
A type of experiential learning that uses interactions with horses to help individuals develop life skills. It’s not therapy, but rather a non-riding, facilitated approach that can be applied in educational, organizational, and personal development settings.
At Elevation Equine, we offer Equine Assisted Learning through Equus Coaching and Lifecoaching with Equine Partners. Our program is designed to improve communication, self-awareness, problem-solving, and emotional regulation through activities involving horses.

There’s something about being in the presence of a horse that makes it impossible to pretend.
They don’t need your words.
They don’t follow your stories.
They respond to your energy.
The horse doesn’t ask you to be perfect, only honest.
And in that space your nervous system finally gets the message that you’re safe to be exactly as you are.
The horse always knows. The real question is…
are you ready to listen?
