This is a really extreme example of what happens when you don’t service your suspension regularly. I re-valved this about 2 years ago using a Race Tech Gold Valve. Over time the piston band wore, then took the ridge off the Gold Valve that holds the piston band in the valve….. once this smoothed out the piston band came off, came a part and clogged all the ports…the oil had no where to go so it came out the side.
The shock was full of black sludge….this had about 5,000 miles of hard off-road dual sport riding.
