Hello EMA Family,

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we share the news that Master Aasheim passed away this week.

So many of you trained with him throughout your cycles and classes, he became an integral part of your Black Belt journeys. Whether he was challenging you to dig deeper and find another level, sharing one of his many crazy sayings "Pivot!", stories, or reminding you of his #1 rule “Form First Always.” he left an impact that will stay with our school and our Black Belt family.

Master Aasheim gave so much of himself to his students and fellow instructors, that his presence on the mat will be deeply missed.

There are countless memories, lessons, laughs, and probably a few things he said that made absolutely no sense at the time but somehow stuck with us anyway. Those are the pieces of him we will carry forward.

We know this news will be difficult for many of you, just as it has been for all of us who had the privilege of teaching, training, and learning beside him. We encourage you to tell stories, favorite memories, and lean on each other in this heartbreaking time.

As soon as we know whether there will be an opportunity to honor his life, we will share that information with you. We know many of you will want to pay your respects and say goodbye.
