Please help us welcome Dr. Jack Avery to the DustOff Yoga teaching community!!

After more than 25 years practicing primary care medicine and twelve years of personal yoga practice, Jack brings a unique perspective to the Sanctuary, thoughtfully bridging his understanding of modern medicine with the enduring traditions of Hatha Yoga.

Throughout his career, Jack has been interested not only in how we understand and treat illness, but in a larger question: How do we cultivate health and well-being in the way we live each day? His own exploration of yoga has become an important part of that inquiry.

This fall, Jack will guide TWO very special 6 week series: Well-Being Yoga | The Practice of Living Well, an exploration of the Eight Limbs of Yoga and the broader tradition that extends beyond the physical practice. Each class weaves together accessible Hatha Yoga, breathing practices, mindfulness, philosophy, and conversation. Together, we’ll explore these teachings not simply as ancient philosophy, but as practical principles that can shape how we care for ourselves, relate to others, respond to life’s challenges, and cultivate greater presence in everyday life.

And in a gesture that feels especially meaningful to us, Jack has chosen to offer this class as a donation-based commUNITY initiative in support of the North Country. All proceeds will go directly to our DustOff Yoga commUNITY Scholarship Fund, helping make yoga and our trauma recovery programs more accessible to members of our local community.

Whether you’re new to yoga or have practiced for years, Jack welcomes curiosity, conversation, and the opportunity to explore together. We’re incredibly pleased to welcome Jack to the Sanctuary—not only for the knowledge and perspective he brings, but for the spirit in which he has chosen to share it.

We’re so excited to welcome Vicki to our teaching collective!! If you’ve practiced with us over the past few years, chances are you’ve already met Vicki! She has been part of the DustOff commUNITY since 2022, practicing alongside us long before she imagined herself stepping into the role of guiding others.

Vicki is a US Army veteran, and first came to DustOff following an injury that eventually led to her retirement from a career as a transit police officer in the heart of Boston. She was looking for a way to strengthen her back and bring more movement into her everyday life. What she discovered was something much more ~ strength, relief, joy, and a way of reconnecting with herself that she describes as “an awakening of my body and mind, as though I am coming to life.” That experience is part of what inspired her to become a teacher.

As she completes her 200-hour yoga teacher certification, Vicki will be offering complimentary Gentle Yoga classes throughout the fall while receiving hands-on mentorship at DustOff with an emphasis on accessible, trauma-informed teaching. Expect a gentle, unhurried practice with mindful movement, breath, and opportunities to pause, notice, and explore what feels supportive for your body. Most of all, Vicki hopes you’ll enjoy being here and leave feeling rejuvenated, calm, capable, and simply good about yourself.

Vicki may be a little nervous to step into this new role, but she’s also excited to learn, grow, and share this next chapter with the commUNITY she has practiced alongside for the past four years. We’re grateful to be part of her journey and hope you’ll come practice with her and be part of it, too!!

**Registration is required for this FREE commUNITY Practice program. If you’re just starting your yoga practice here at the studio pop over to dustoffyoga.com and follow the prompts to set up your account and book your first class. Weekly classes begin September 10th at 4pm.
