🍀We are continuing our special series celebrating the incredible teachers who make Barefoot what it is!
🎉Today we spotlight our newest teacher, Erika, and we are so happy she joined us in 2026!
"I have been on my yoga journey for almost 13 years and it truly is the gift that keeps on giving! My introduction to yoga was through YouTube videos and community classes in my twenties. I tried classes all over Little Rock; Goat Yoga, Beer Yoga, Yoga at Bernice Garden, the Library and Allsopp Park. Every teacher showed me a different way to move, to breathe or to be still, I remember all of them and appreciate the impact they had.
My practice transitioned into a studio when I pursued my 200hr Teacher Training. Learning about the 8 limbs of yoga was when I started to realize I had only barely scratched the surface of what yoga is, how it is meant to be lived, how more of it happens off the mat than I realized. My teacher training allowed me to go deeper with myself, it sparked a different kind of understanding in me and a desire to always meet myself where I am.
My first Barefoot class was April 2024, DeNee’s Hip Hop Yoga Class and I loved it! From the moment I walked through the door, I felt the incredible energy and knew I wanted to be here as much as possible. The variety of styles on the schedule began to shape my practice in ways I had dreamt of; Slow Flow was an opportunity to really feel the practice, Vinyasa Flow could be whatever pace I needed that day and the stillness of Yin became something I craved. Barefoot became a safe place for me to land, to ground, to soften, to just be and I’m grateful for the opportunity to help cultivate that same magic I constantly feel here."

"This October will mark five years of teaching yoga at Barefoot. 🧘♀️
Before I was a teacher here, I was a student. I’ve always believed that things have a way of coming into your life when you need them, and Barefoot was one of those things for me.
I still remember nervously applying for teacher training and getting on the phone with Breezy to talk about why I wanted to be part of the program. I wasn’t sure I belonged or if I was “ready.” But within five minutes of talking with her, something shifted. I knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be. Breezy has a way of making people feel that way. 💖
Teacher training was an incredible experience with an amazing group of humans. I learned so much about the practice of yoga, teaching techniques, and, honestly, myself. I will always hold those classes so near and dear to my heart.
Funny enough, I hadn’t even gone into teacher training intending to teach. I simply wanted to learn more about yoga.
Then, slowly, opportunities started popping up… a small class at a school, a segment on the news, and eventually, the Tuesday Sunrise class at Barefoot opened up. Breezy reached out, and with a little encouragement, I said yes.
Five years later, I love teaching yoga… yes, even at 6AM. 😆 I love this community, the people I’ve met along the way, and the opportunity to share something that has meant so much to me.
I’m incredibly grateful that five years ago, I followed that little nudge toward exactly what I needed. 🫶"

"I've been practicing at Barefoot since 2018 before I moved back home to Arkansas in late 2019. A few teachers at Barefoot asked if I had my teacher training, which just made my day because I really appreciated how much attention to detail the studio where I learned (Yoga East in Louisville, KY) had put into really teaching the poses and philosophy. When I was able to make time to do it, I did! I practice yoga because I have a really stressful job and sit at a desk all day. Yoga gives me a way to incorporate activity (that I know I'll be able to continue throughout my life) AND requires the mental focus to leave my job off my mat (I cannot think about work stress and stand on one foot!) My favorite aspiration of yoga is to still the fluctuations of the mind, and I absolutely need that! I teach at Barefoot as a sub, which is my very favorite way to teach - having a class every week is a lot with my regular schedule - but I LOVE providing support for the other Barefoot teachers who do so much to bring us a dedicated hour of time on our mat, so they can travel or attend family events or even just have a day off."

💎We are continuing our special series celebrating the incredible teachers who make Barefoot Studio what it is!💚
⭐We are spotlighting Peggy today!
✏ Peggy began teaching at Barefoot Studio around 2008 & has taught over 3,000 classes!
"I have been teaching yoga for about 20 years, primarily at Barefoot Studio where I completed my teacher training in the early 2000s when Matt & Holly Krepps owned the studio & offered 200-hour teacher training. I also practiced yoga at other places – like War Memorial fitness center & Cliff Riggs’ studio. I chose Barefoot as my regular studio because the class schedule worked best for my job as a professor at UALR, and what a great choice that was for me!
I didn’t think about becoming a yoga teacher until I was training to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, an 8 wk program that teaches highly stressed people how to meditate, use breathing practices & hatha yoga to manage how they respond to stressful situations.
Having practiced yoga since the 1970s when I was in graduate school, I already appreciated the many ways yoga improved my daily life. Because most MBSR students experienced chronic pain, I realized that to take good care of them, I needed to take yoga teacher training to know how to teach them how to practice yoga safely & how to adapt yoga postures to their own situations. At that time, I had no idea that I would want to teach yoga regularly at Barefoot for the next 20 yrs & even after I retired from UALR."
Over the years I took additional teacher training, including a 300-hr certification w Alexandria Pullen at YogaDeza studio in Fayetteville, focusing on ayurveda, yin & flow yoga. I am presently completing training in myofascial release & Yoga Nidra."
👣 Peggy teaches twice on Sundays: 2:30 pm Beginner Yoga + 4 PM Candlelight Yin Yoga, and she also teaches a once a month 90 min Restorative Class on a Saturday.
👣Peggy recently completed a teacher training in Oncology Yoga: gentle yoga postures & breathing practices for cancer patients, survivors & their care givers. Having been a cancer care giver herself, she wants to bring resilience & comfort to this population.

🎉Today we are spotlighting April!
✏ As a student, April has taken 735 classes!
✏ As a teacher, April has taught 1,217 classes!
"I've been teaching at Barefoot Studio for over ten years. Breezy tells me the computer system says I've taught over 1200 classes! I swear, I can remember teaching that first class like it was yesterday. I was just happy not to need to call an ambulance, quite possibly for myself because I was so nervous!
My yoga journey started inauspiciously, with some classes at my college gym. I did about a year of online yoga classes in 2014, and in January 2015, I took the Intro to Yoga series taught by Breezy. I fell in love with the Barefoot Studio vibe!
I'm so happy to get to teach and practice at Barefoot. It is hands down the most inclusive, authentic yoga studio I've had the pleasure of experiencing (and I visit a lot of yoga studios when I travel). Thank you to each and every student who has crossed my path. It brings me so much joy to share my teaching with you all. And a special shout out to Breezy for her love, kindness, and friendship."
👣 April teaches twice on Saturdays:
8:15 am Power Hour + 9:30 am Stretch

🤎Today we are spotlighting Lindsay!
✏ As a student, she has taken 202 classes at Barefoot!
✏ As a teacher, she has taught 942 classes at Barefoot!
"I have been teaching yoga for 12 years, I started teaching because my precious teacher, Breezy, encouraged me to do so. I was a student for 5 years before becoming a teacher.
What a journey it has been! When I think back to my teaching after first been trained to today I am reminded that the only way “to it” is “through it.”
I love that yoga almost mandates an intimate connection with my body. At first, I started doing yoga to look like a yogi. I wanted to get into the cool poses and wear the title of yoga practitioner. But as we say, “at first you start doing yoga, then at some point yoga does you.”
My intentions have changed over the years. I saw the hollowness of my initial motive and I eventually had to get honest with myself. My practice began to become authentic and imperfect and that is when I really met myself on my mat. Now I enjoy being curious about what I will find when i come to class :) '
👣 Lindsay teaches twice on Thursdays:
6 am Sunrise Yoga + 12 pm All Levels Flow
