Racing events for the year are winding down, but we’re back in action today! Hot laps at 2:15, racing at 3:00 - bonus of the corn roast today! 🌽 🏁

Friday, 8/14 and Sunday, 8/16 recap (Saturday, 8/15 in previous post):

▪️ Friday our travels took us west to Rice Lake Kart Track - after Lightning Speedway cancelled due to impending rain. We were pretty excited for Payt’s draw numbers of 7 and 8, until we realized it was passing points 😅

Green plate (12 karts checked in):
Heat: 1st -> 1st 🏁
Feature: 3rd -> 6th

Blue plate (7 karts checked in):
Heat: 2nd -> 4th
Feature: 5th -> 4th

The racers from that area really know how to throw down and aren’t afraid to do so. It was great to see our fellow racers/friends that we haven’t seen in a while! Payten did what she could.

Kendall -
Show 1, heat: 4th -> 5th

Kendall showed more speed and consistency in her lines yesterday compared to her previous race! She was eager to get back out there and she drove to a smooth victory, her 3rd on the year! 👏🏼

Payten -

Show 2, heat: 5th -> 3rd

Clean sweep on show 1 of the day. The feature of show 2, brought some bad luck. Passing for the lead, her clutch guard broke and got caught in the chain drive - causing her to have to pull to the infield 😖 the caution came out because of it, which then sent her to the back of the pack on the restart. In 4 laps, she worked her way back to 3rd and was reeling in the leaders. Unfortunately she ran out of laps and had to settle for 3rd but she was hauling and had her sights set on them!

Saturday, 8/15 update - Cedar Lake Arena (double show day)

Scary day yesterday for Payten, and all of us, at the arena. In hot laps she got too high coming out of turn 4, caught the front stretch wall and rolled her kart 😩💔

We’re so grateful for her safety equipment and a solid cage, that kept her protected and thankful no one else was involved. She was obviously shaken up from the incident and had some pain in her arm but after some ice, some hugs and some time to recoup, she was feeling better and ready to jump right back into the saddle 💪🏼

We had to scratch the damaged kart for the day so she only ran in one class. Thank you to Langer Racing and Madsen Racing for your concern and help with Payten and offering parts and hands with the damaged kart!

Ended the day with a pair of 3rds in the r-box green plate class. 🥉🥉

Dad pulled a late night in the shop, tearing down the kart, assessing the damage and rebuilding again. Some work to do yet, but we’ll be back at Little Buckaroos today for the double header show - both girls are racing! 🙏🏼🏁

Sunday 8/2 recap - it was a fun one! 🤩

We were blessed to have so many friends and family join us at the track for Andersen Basement Repair Day! It was so fun to have everyone there - cheering on Payten & Kendall, watching them do what they love! We’re grateful for everyone who spent the day with us and who continually support us! ♥️

Kendall:
Heat 1: 2nd -> 3rd
Heat 2: 2nd -> 3rd
Feature: 3rd -> 3rd 🥉

Kendall’s motor seems to be having issues and lacking power so we’ll work on a solution to get her fast and competitive again. It’s heartbreaking when she comes off the track, bummed out and says “I’m pushing my pedal all the way but it’s not going.” ☹️ We’re proud of her resilience to continue getting out there and giving it her all 🩷

Payten:

Another good day of racing, picking up a heat & feature win! The track was a bit tricky but Payten did a really good job adjusting and drove very well.
