Just when you think you’ve heard every possible perspective on how the world works, a routine Tuesday (or whatever day it is) completely throws you a curveball.
Today I had a conversation with a man who proudly—and without missing a single beat—shared his foundational worldview with me:
1. **The Earth is flat.**
2. **We are living inside a giant dome.**
3. **Dinosaurs never existed... but dragons definitely did.**
I have to hand it to him: he didn't just casually mention it—he owned it with 100% confidence. No hesitation, no doubts, just pure conviction that we’re all under a giant glass bowl sharing history with fire-breathing lizards.
Honestly, at this point, I’m not even mad. In a world full of standard, copy-paste small talk about the weather, sometimes you just have to sit back, appreciate the sheer commitment, and let the dragon theory roll.

The Mature Buck "Baiting Backfire": Why a giant corn pile might actually be turning the biggest buck on your property completely nocturnal. 📉🦌
The Myth:
"Setting up a stand directly over an active bait pile is the easiest way to arrow a mature buck during hunting season."
The Data:
Multiple GPS tracking studies have revealed a frustrating reality: hunting directly over a bait pile often reduces daylight movement from old, mature bucks. Mature whitetails easily associate bait stations with high human risk due to the frequent scent left behind during refills. While they will happily let does and young bucks visit the pile during the afternoon, a smart buck will often stage 100 yards downwind in thick cover, waiting until hours after dark to step onto the corn.
The Conclusion:
Use your bait stations primarily for running trail camera surveys or managing your doe numbers. If you're targeting a mature buck, pull your hunting stand off the food entirely and set up along the thick, secure travel corridors he uses to scent-check the area before dark.
