✈️New Student Orientation✈️

This past week, we welcomed our newest cadets at New Student Orientation (NSO). NSO gave our new cadets the opportunity to get to know each other, learn more about AFROTC, and start their journey here at Det 290.

A special thanks to C/Mazarakis and C/Gantz for planning and executing this year’s NSO, and making it a great experience for our newest cadets!

Guess what? The Air Force Academy isn't the only way to join the Air or Space Force and get a free ride to college. Through the High School Scholarship Program (HSSP), you can get your tuition paid for and a stipend, which allows you to get the traditional college experience, with military training AND if you earn it, a commission in the world's best Air or Space Force.

It's a very competitive process. Applicants must pass a Dept of Defense Medical Examination Review Board medical exam, pass an Air Force Physical fitness test, have an SAT of 1310 or ACT of 28 and a GPA minimum of 3.3.

Applications are live for students entering college Fall of 2027 until 11 December 2026.

Approximately 1,100 future Air and Space Force leaders stand together in a rare combined formation as Officer Training School Classes 26-15, 26-16, and 26-17 join Air Force ROTC Field Training MAX 4 and MAX 5 on Welch Parade Field.

Though they arrived here by different paths, they all share the same commitment—to lead with integrity, serve with excellence, and defend our nation.

The journey to becoming an officer may begin differently, but the mission remains the same.
