The recap of the July edition of Sounds Like a Plan is here!
Placemaking week took place from June 24-26, 2026 in Detroit, Michigan, with LFUCG staff in attendance. Placemaking creates spaces that are loved, unexpected, animated, and shared. There are numerous placemaking projects happening across Lexington, including Addison Park, Gainesway Park, along the MLK Boulevard corridor, within the Downtown Master Plan, and as part of the asphalt art pilot project on Shropshire Avenue. To learn more about these projects and what placemaking is, check out the full story at the newsletter archive link in the our bio!

The Downtown Master Plan has officially been adopted as part of the Comprehensive Plan!
Created with thorough input from the community, the plan sets a long-term vision for downtown Lexington. It includes recommendations to guide future growth, housing, transportation, public spaces, economic development, and more.
Thank you to everyone who attended meetings, completed surveys, shared feedback, and contributed ideas throughout the process. Your voices helped shape a plan that reflects our community's vision for downtown.
This is an exciting milestone, and it's only the beginning. The Downtown Master Plan will help guide future decisions as we continue working together to create a vibrant, connected, and resilient downtown for years to come.

The (actual) June edition of Sounds Like a Plan is here!
In June, the Blue Sky Works Small Area Plan was given final approval by the Planning Commission and was adopted as an element of Lexington’s comprehensive plan: Imagine Lexington 2045. We kicked off Blue Sky Works last spring to help guide future development of the Blue Sky Activity Center, an industrial area located off Athens Boonesboro just east of I-75. The plan reflects extensive community input from businesses and organizations located in Blue Sky and nearby residents.
