Copper City Chiefs Set for Historic Home Opener on October 24

The wait is almost over! The Copper City Chiefs will make franchise history on Saturday, October 24, 2026, when they host the Bathurst St. Lions of Toronto in the team's inaugural home game at the John F. Kennedy Arena.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., marking the beginning of a new era of hockey in Rome. Doors open at 6:30pm.

Opening Night promises to be a celebration of the return of semi-professional hockey to the city, with special giveaways, door prizes, and exciting promotions throughout the evening. Additional details on Opening Night festivities will be announced in the coming weeks.

"This is a night that many people in Rome have been waiting for," said Jimmy Milliken, Owner and President of the Copper City Chiefs. "Our players, staff, and fans have been counting down to this moment. We want to create an unforgettable atmosphere as we drop the puck on the first game in Copper City Chiefs history."
The Chiefs are calling on the entire Mohawk Valley to help make Opening Night one to remember.
