Shawnee Mission Park Adventure Race

Shawnee Mission Park Adventure Race Adventure is calling! https://jcprd.com/252/Social-Media-Policy This race will involve navigation, trekking (running or hiking), mountain biking, paddling.

There may also be surprise challenges for ALL courses. The team that completes the most checkpoints with the fastest time will win the race. There will be several checkpoints that are mandatory (transition areas), but most are not. Teams can choose to skip checkpoints to shorten the course and still have an official finish, with the risk of not placing in the top 10. For both courses, participants will only have access to the gear, food and drink that they themselves have brought with them on their bike or in their pack. Checkpoints for the 6 hour Course will be available on Topographic maps. The maps are pre-plotted topographic maps from mytopo.com. Teams will need a basic understanding of terrain features and distance measure when using these maps. There will be very few rules of travel, teams will choose their own route/strategy (with mode of travel specified for checkpoints). Both courses you will have access ONLY to the gear, food and drink that you have on your bike or in your pack. Checkpoints for the 6 hour Course will be on Topographic maps. Your team will need a basic understanding of terrain features and distance measure. Please note that this event is self-supported, meaning you carry with you all that you need: water, food, first aid, etc. Maps will be distributed on event day at check in.
