Your morning anxiety is actually coming from your breath pattern.
My teen was concerned about a racing heart at the beginning of the day. Which led to a long discussion about cortisol, and breath patterns!
For us high-strung, anxious people: we’re taking shallow breaths. And that’s causing a slew of problems!
Shallow breaths mean the body has poor C02 tolerance, and that means the cells aren’t absorbing all of the oxygen they need. It leads to a racing heart, more cortisol being produced, and a whole bunch of other processes (like poor digestion!) because the nervous system is in a heightened state.
✨My challenge for you today: take longer exhales for a few minutes.
😮💨 Do it with me and let ALLLL of your air out. Try to breathe in a little slower than you have been and let alllll of your air out again. Repeat for a few minutes and see what shifts in your mind and body.
It’s not a quick fix. Not a “do this one thing and all of your problems will be solved.”
But it WILL help your nervous system become more resilient and help your body not race so fast for so long all the time.
👉🏼Try it and tell me what happens for you!
