How one simple, little automation (that my teenage son put together) has generated thousands of dollars.

This sounds overblown, and my intention is not to not to clickbait you.

But, I want to demonstrate how a simple system that essentially forces consistency and generated thousands of dollars this year.

First off, I’m the WORST at consistency. I never, and I mean ever, wake up and think “what should I be consistent about today?”

But I want to show you how a little automation (that my teenage son put together for me in ten minutes) has created a level of consistency for over 12 months in emailing my database.

Obviously, staying in touch with your database is critical, and email is a no-brainer. And honestly, if you’re not emailing at least once per week, why bother? And I’ll tell you, when I’d look at my email campaigns, I was shocked at the huge amount of time had passed since I sent my last email.

So, I told my high school son one day: “hey, can you setup a simple automation in RenegadeCRM that sends an email out to everyone twice per week?”

Ten minutes later, he calls out to me: “Dad, all finished. Your first email is going out tomorrow then the next one goes out again Saturday. Then it will repeat next week. Then just keep going forever. It will send out to everyone in your contact list.”

Now here we are down the road a pretty long time and guess what? My people get emailed faithfully twice per week.

Are the emails great? Nope, sorry, they haven’t always been great. Sometimes just a quick three line blurb about something helpful. Sometimes I’ve even forgotten and the same email that I sent last week goes out again.

But you know what? Not one person has complained or even mentioned that.

Have they been getting better? You bet! Now I’ve got ways to make them clean, look better, sound better, etc.

But here’s the real take away from all of this: the consistency (NOT the content necessarily) has literally put thousands of dollars in my pocket.

I started hearing back from people. I started getting more calls. I started seeing people say, “I’ve been getting your emails…”

Funny thing too, I’d say 90% of the time the to

Though embarrassing (and expensive) it taught me a lesson that maybe can help you too.
Getting or converting leads can be a little bit challenging when you’re wearing so many hats. Heck, it can be challenging even if you’re the dedicated lead gen person for your business!

You know that leads/conversion is the lifeblood of your business, but you either don’t have the time to become an expert or you’re not sure where to start.

A few years ago, I had and embarrassing (and expensive) experience that taught me a lot, and hopefully it can help you too.

Back then, I was heavily studying sales copy writing. I labored for HOURS trying to write the best mailer for our mortgage company. I stewed over the headline. I tweaked the message. I wrestled with the right photo. It was exhausting, because it seemed the more I worked on it the more work it needed.

Well the deadline hit, and I sent it off to the print house to get it mailed and printed. Honestly, I thought the letter was pretty darn clever. I was pretty sure that this one letter would change the world. Well, at least the world I mailed it to.

Over the next days, I waited anxiously for the phones to ring and for our sales team to crown me their hero.

But get this: we got one. ONE phone call. And do you know who it was from? The wife of one of our sales guys. She wanted to tell us she got the letter and HAD NO IDEA what the heck it was even talking about!! She mentioned the photo and asked why it was even in there. She said, “It seemed like you guys were trying to be too clever, and would have never known it came from a mortgage company if my husband didn’t work with you guys.”

I felt like an idiot (and I STILL cringe when I think about it).

But, it taught me a lesson in a big way.

First, K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid)

Here I was trying to be the next Gary Halbert, and instead, I should’ve kept it simple. Even a simple post card that said, “We can get you a low mortgage rate. Call us for a quote.” Would’ve likely performed way better.

Second: consistency. I wasted our ad budget on a long letter that cost our whole ad budget right up front. Had a chosen a more simple, consistent route, I could’ve sen

Email marketing is really about one thing: **staying remembered AND getting referrals.**

And some of the numbers around that are pretty brutal.

Check out several mortgage industry statistics that show just how quickly the relationship between a loan officer and a past borrower can disappear after closing.

A few of the stats that surprised me:

* Average borrower retention in the mortgage industry is only around **18%**
* Roughly **7 out of 10 borrowers forget their loan officer’s name within 13 months**
* Around **88% of clients say they would use their lender again**
* Yet only a small percentage actually return to that same lender when the next opportunity comes up

That gap is a huge part of the problem.

Loan officers spend a tremendous amount of time and money generating a customer, earning their trust, getting the loan closed, and building what feels like a strong relationship.

Then communication stops.

A year later, that same customer may refinance, move, buy another home, need a HELOC, or refer a friend or family member — but they no longer remember who helped them the first time.

That means the opportunity isn’t limited to repeat business. There’s also a tremendous amount of potential referral business sitting inside an existing database.

I also talk through some of the reasons loan officers hesitate to stay in touch:

“I don’t want to bug people.”

“I don’t know what to say.”

“I’m not very technical.”

“I tried email once and nothing happened.”

“I already have a company newsletter.”

Those are all understandable concerns, but they don’t change the underlying math. If people gradually forget who you are, staying in touch becomes part of maintaining the relationship.

Toward the end of the video, I show the simple system we use inside **Renegade AI** to solve that problem. We use AI to help create the emails and an automated workflow to consistently send them to our database without someone having to remember to do it every week.

The technology actually is now really the easy part.

The bigger idea is making sure the clients you worked so hard to earn still know who you are when they — or someone they know — need help again.

Is posting consistently on social media actually worth the effort?

I decided to test it for myself.

For one month, I consistently published organic content across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and a few other channels. No ad spend. No boosted posts. Just regular content distributed through the social planner inside Renegade AI.

The result surprised me: **nearly 200 posts generated more than 135,000 impressions and reached over 100,000 people in a single month.**

In this video, I walk through the actual numbers from the experiment and show you the system I used to make that amount of content manageable.

You’ll see:

* The exact posting results from the month of June
* How I distributed content across multiple social platforms
* How I turn longer videos into short-form content using Descript
* How I schedule and manage everything from one social media planner
* Why organic reach can still be incredibly valuable
* How consistent posting changes the way people perceive your business
* How I use organic content to test topics and messaging before spending money on ads
* Why content can start compounding as the platforms learn who responds to you
* How your best-performing organic posts can become a starting point for paid advertising

One of the biggest things I noticed wasn’t even in the analytics.

People started telling me, **“I see you everywhere.”**

They weren’t necessarily watching every mortgage video I posted. They didn’t need to. Repeated exposure meant they were seeing my name, face, and message often enough that I stayed familiar.

And compared with what it used to cost to get that kind of distribution through television and traditional media, the opportunity available to small businesses today is pretty remarkable.

You don’t need a film crew following you around all day, either. I record useful long-form content, repurpose it into smaller pieces, schedule it across the appropriate channels, and let the system do a lot of the distribution work.

Inside **Renegade Academy**, we teach this entire process and give our students access to **Renegade AI**, including the social media planning and automation tools shown in this video.

70% of your past customers forget your name within 13 months of closing.

Sucks, but it's the stat. You're probably working really hard for people, thinking that builds the relationship by itself.

But to keep customers returning, your after-close system needs to be setup and running well.

The best marketing "tactic" isn't a tactic at all.

It's just being helpful to the people around you. You don't have to be perfect or know everything. You can be perfect at being YOU, starting right now!

When you focus on helping people instead of chasing leads, all those fears and insecurities just fade away and the then the real you can show up.

Holy cow you guys, I almost fell for the "Tactics Trap" AGAIN this morning!
Saw a video of a personal claiming your landing page was the do or die on whether or not a webinar works and he built a whole system on it. Not saying he's wrong, but the constant borage of secrets (that are really simple optimizations on fundamentals) can be exhausting.

Someone's tiny optimization is often trotted out as a secret weapon parading as the deep secret to success, entirely ignoring the fundamental objective that underpins it.

Some examples:
Running a home-buying webinar? Some would argue that in order for it to be effective, you have to have landing pages, registration/reminder sequences, info capture at strategic times, follow up sequences, perfect slides, etc.

While you're spending weeks putting all that stuff together, some noobie across town decided to host a Facebook live and simply invited who he could. And, he's doing it every day!

Or, while you're researching the very best presentation to referral partners and spending weeks on the slides, that same noobie (not to be disrespectful) just sponsored a sales meeting and collected 20 new contacts.

So stick with the minimum viable to get started, then your own experience will be far more valuable than trying to figure out how to apply someone's proposed secret weapon.
