Did you know…

Anyone born on or after January 1, 1975, is required to complete a Hunter Education Course before hunting in Kentucky.

This course teaches essential lessons about fi***rm safety and hunting laws. Once the course is completed, individuals receive a certification card (which must be carried while hunting).

These requirements are in place to help ensure that hunting is done safely, responsibly, and ethically!

Seats for these courses fill fast this time of year. If you plan on hunting later this season and still need to complete this requirement, it is important to register as soon as possible.

Deer season is in full swing, with many people already bringing in their first harvests of the year!

As you prepare to hit the field this season, don’t forget to review the 2026-2027 Hunting and Trapping Guide, especially if you are hunting in the CWD Surveillance Zone.

Regulations for counties in this zone differ, specifically in regards to:
•Special Antlerless Season - Sept. 25-28
•Baiting restrictions
•Carcass transportation
•Mandatory sampling
