Excited to see my boys from Backwooder BBQ join the Rub Yer Meat family!

This weekend we traveled to Edinburg Virginia for the Stoney Creek BBQ Cookoff. Chris and his team put on an awesome event that was fun for everyone. The teams truly appreciate your dedication to making it an enjoyable event and we can’t wait to come back next year! Here is how we fared…

Teams- 27
Chicken- 18th 🤔.
Ribs- 4th Prairie Fresh
Overall- 9th

So we clearly had some mixed results. I felt the chicken was better than what it scored, but the judges did not agree. The ribs on the other hand were a great result. This was my first time running in competition and I couldn’t have been happier with the outcome! The flavor was fantastic and the color it gave was unbeatable! I know I will have continued success with this great product! There was also Best Flavor contest this weekend that we entered this rub in and combined it with the Honey Q sauce from Utz Works. This killer combo got us a 3rd place out of 15 entries!

The true highlight of the weekend for me was watching Carson Smith of Savior Smoke Pit get his first call and take home $500 for winning the backyard wild child! At 13 years old in only his second contest, this is a pretty amazing accomplishment. Congratulations buddy! We’re all excited to watch you grow into an awesome pit master!

Our next competition is the First State BBQ bash September 25-27 in Milford Delaware. This one is special because the Storm & Park pro team are crewing up as we join forces with Rough Cut Q to cook Masters on Saturday and then jump back to backyard on Sunday.
