Apologies for the relative silence over the last week. I was focused on finishing up some local racer projects, both painting, ordering decals and planning stages for others, options for visually impaired racing and some other graphic stuff for local racing before taking a week off from, well, most everything. The past 8 months or so have been pretty heavy, in almost all regards. I try my best to keep my work, hobbies and life separated to some extent but some times you just need a break. The misses and I packed some bags and headed off to Barbados for a week. Amongst the many things we’ve done while on the island, we visited Animal Flower Cave and it was an appropriate metaphor for life experience that didn’t hit me till I sat down and soaked it in. In life, like most things, you can often get lost in the dark and just need to find that light at the end of the tunnel and forge on. I promise, the analogy works on multiple levels, including Mini-Z racing. For most of us, folks like me included, it’s doesn’t come easy. With some patience, determination and supportive community, it remains one of my favorite hobbies after 26 years of RC.
I’ll be back for racing this weekend and ready to go! Sadly I’ll be flying during the US World Cup match. I’ve watched more football in the last week than the last couple years.
