National Preparedness Month: : What to Put in Your Emergency Supply Kit

"Now is a good time to get your home ready for anything. If you have the right supplies, emergencies will be easier to handle.

The Albany County Department of Health ( https://www.albanycountyny.gov/health ) suggests packing these items:

Water (1 gallon for each person, for each day. Try to have at least 3 days of water).

Food that won't spoil (enough for 3 - 4 days, plus a manual can opener).

Flashlight and extra batteries.

First aid kit.

Cell phone charger (a portable or solar charger is best).

Blankets.

Extra clothes.

Hygiene and sanitation items (like toilet paper, toothpaste, shampoo, feminine products, and garbage bags).

Whistle.

N95 masks for each person.

Check your supply kit once a year to make sure nothing has expired.
