3:33 am central time Sunday Morning pulling out from our family farm in Louisiana…
As I head out to catch a flight to South Florida for a business dinner tonight with new mortgage partners and then a FREE EVENT open to all agents tomorrow.
The first thing I think about as we continue down a growth path in all our businesses…
“What can I share with others that could really help them with their business?”

The minute YOU as a leader stop doing the things you expect of the front line workers, you will lose touch and LOSE THEIR RESPECT.
So how did you do last week in YOUR MARKETING and YOUR PROSPECTING
Listen, 99% of y’all leaders would be embarrassed if you had to report to me YOUR MARKETING ACTIVITIES (Not your marketing person, YOU!) and YOUR PROSPECTING ACTIVITIES (Not your recruiters prospecting activities, YOU!)
The two most important activities your agents can do are marketing to new people and those in their database.
Prospecting for new people and those in their database.
NEWS FLASH: The definition of leadership is NOT: “Do as I say, not as I do”
So when evaluated, unfortunately this is how most leaders lead and why there are few who have meteoric growth year after year.

Wanna grow beyond where you are, at a pace and momentum the market conditions are irrelevant?

What I mean is do the damn activities you did that got you here and now expect others to do and for some reason you’re too good for it
As you look to the second half of the year…
For the next 90 days:
1. Dial recruits 5 days a week and measure your activities. Either next to your recruiter if you have one or solo cause you ain’t been doing it.
2. Dial in the database with a group of your agents for one hour a day 5 days a week.
Earn back their respect, get back in touch with what’s really happening, and blow the lid off the second half of 2026…
or just keep doing what most other leaders will do and get the results most other leaders get…Average or below average.

About 12 years ago I received a call from a large recognized franchise…
“Jon, we would like to have you come back again this year and speak at our national convention but…
This is where I got the lesson!
…we received some feedback that you were too intense…we would just ask that you tone it down a bit”
Well as anyone committed to growth does, I was open to the feedback and approached my speaking sessions with that in mind.
A few months later after delivering my sessions I received an email.
“Jon, we received our surveys after convention and the common theme was that you must of been off because you really didn’t bring the energy”
Whutttttt?!?! 🤦🏻♂️
Right there and then I GOT IT!
Find your voice and be true to self!
Intense is who I am.
There’s always going to be people you just don’t connect with.
Go all in on who you are, what you do and what you stand for.
I think like many of us in early stages of our career we are certainly open to feedback while also trying to really meet our audience where they are at.
That’s responsible but…
Sometimes that can go a little too far into “people pleasing” where we are trying to be all things to all people and end up nothing to no one.
At that point and that discovery, it was very easy for me to decide, I’m going to be me!
I can tell you undeniably at that point, everything changed.
Sure it pushed away a segment of people who want nothing to do with my delivery and intensity…
It also created some of the most valuable business and professional relationships still to this day.
Be you, be unapologetic about it, not everyone is going to like you but…
I can promise you this, the power of relationship with those you do connect with will be like rocket fuel for your business.
And everyone else? They’re just not your people and that’s ok
Always be open to feedback. Always listen to your inner voice too. Trust it.
The leader who stays in curiosity and asks the best right questions, gets deeper in relationships and ultimately the RESULT
There’s a reason people come to me year after year year now for over 25 years to grow their team or brokerage
