Long before today's debates about s*x differences in sports became a political issue, elite female athletes were already talking about it.
Ronda Rousey acknowledged the size and strength advantages of men. Olympic champions have discussed it. Even Serena Williams famously said she'd lose to Andy Murray 6-0, 6-0 because men generally serve harder, move faster, and generate more power.
In grappling, this isn't an insult to women. It's just reality.
I've trained with incredible female black belts who would dominate the vast majority of untrained men. Skill matters. Technique matters.
But when skill levels are similar, size, strength, speed, and explosiveness matter too. Anyone who's spent real time on the mats knows this.
That's why combat sports have weight classes, age divisions, and separate men's and women's divisions. They're not there to diminish anyone. They're there to create the fairest competition possible.
You can believe women are phenomenal athletes while also recognizing biological differences. Those ideas aren't contradictory.
The conversation should start with reality, not politics.
