Movement isn't just physical.

It's also about moving your life forward with purpose.

A weekly review helps you pause, celebrate progress, learn from challenges, and refocus on what matters most.

Take a few minutes this weekend to review your priorities and plan your next steps.

The best plans aren't perfect—they're achievable.

Strong body. Calm mind. Balanced life.

That sudden pull, strain, or "pop" can be alarming—but what you do in the first 24–48 hours can make a big difference to your recovery.

One of the biggest mistakes? Stretching an injured muscle too soon.

In this blog, I share simple self-care strategies to help you recover safely, understand when it's time to seek medical attention, and get back to doing what you love.

Summer is a season for saying yes.

Yes to time on the water.
Yes to hiking new trails.
Yes to exploring new places.
Yes to making memories with family and friends.

But those moments also ask more of our bodies.

Earlier this year, Suzanne shared something that stayed with me. While on her boat, she tripped—but instead of falling and getting injured, she caught herself.

Her response?
"I tripped on the boat, but Pilates kept me from falling and getting hurt."

That story perfectly captures why I teach Pilates.

It's not about mastering an exercise.
It's about building the strength, balance, mobility, and body awareness that help us stay active and confident when life throws us an unexpected challenge.

The best compliment I can receive isn't that someone did a perfect exercise.
It's hearing that what we practice in class helped them continue living the life they love.

Thank you, Suzanne, for allowing me to share your story.

Move well. Stay steady. Enjoy your summer.

Who is Pilates for?

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is:

"Pilates isn't for someone like me."

Mike came to his first session after years of hockey and boxing.

He wasn't looking to become a dancer or a gymnast.

He wanted to move better and recover better.

That's exactly what our Mobility & Recovery sessions are designed to do.

Pilates isn't about becoming someone else.

It's about helping you keep doing the activities you love.

Thank you, Mike, for allowing me to share your story.

Strong body. Calm mind. Balanced life.

For years, we've separated movement into two worlds.

Healthcare professionals treat injury and disease.

Fitness professionals help people improve performance.

But there is an important space in between.

As people live longer and manage more chronic conditions, the need for movement professionals who understand both exercise and health is growing. These professionals help people move with confidence through every stage of life—whether they're returning from injury, managing osteoporosis, improving balance, building strength, or simply wanting to stay active and independent.

This isn't about replacing physicians, physical therapists, or personal trainers. It's about working alongside them to help people continue moving safely and consistently.

That's the future I believe we're building.

"The future isn't fitness professionals or healthcare professionals. It's movement professionals who help people stay active through every stage of life."

What role do you think movement professionals will play in the future of healthcare and healthy aging?

July Update: Summer Classes & Our New Fall Schedule 06/26/2026

This spring, one thing became very clear...

People aren't coming to Pilates for the same reasons anymore.

Some are returning after childbirth. Some are navigating osteoporosis or balance concerns. Others are working through back or shoulder issues. And many are simply looking to stay strong, mobile, and active as they age.

Those conversations inspired some exciting changes to our Fall 2026 schedule.
Beginning this fall, our Balanced Body Pilates program will offer clearer pathways to support different movement goals, including:

✨ Mobility & Recovery
✨ Strength & Stretch
✨ Strength & Flow
✨ Bone & Balance
✨ A new Movement Assessment & Personalized Training Package

These changes reflect something I believe deeply: movement is one of the most powerful tools we have to support lifelong health and wellbeing.

As a Movement Practitioner, my goal is to help you find the right movement at the right time for your body and your life.

Our July newsletter is now available with:
• Summer class updates
• A preview of the new Fall schedule
• Information about our new private assessment program
• A blog on knowing when Physical Therapy and Pilates each play an important role in your health journey

Thank you to everyone who has shared feedback and trusted me to be part of your wellbeing journey. Your experiences continue to shape the evolution of Pilates &.

Strong body. Calm mind. Balanced life.

The reality is that lifestyle habits, nutrition, medical conditions, medications, and exercise can all influence bone health throughout life.

In a recent interview, orthopedic surgeon Peter Gerbino, MD shares insights on:

✔ Who is most at risk for bone loss
✔ When to get a bone density scan
✔ Medications that may affect bone density
✔ Current treatment approaches for osteopenia and osteoporosis
✔ The role of exercise in maintaining healthy bones

One statistic that stood out to me: 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men over age 50 have osteoporosis, and many more have osteopenia.
The good news? There are steps you can take to support bone health and reduce your risk.

Have you had a bone density scan or changed your exercise routine to support bone health? I'd be interested to hear what you've learned.

Ever had your feet cramp during Pilates class?

You’re not alone. Foot cramps are surprisingly common and can happen for several reasons, including muscle fatigue, dehydration, footwear choices or simply asking your feet to do something they are not used to doing.

The good news? A cramp isn’t usually a sign something is wrong. It’s often the body’s way of saying “pay attention here”.

In this video, I share a few props and techniques that may help relieve foot cramps and improve mobility over time.

Strong movement starts from the ground up. Taking care of your feet can improve balance, stability and overall movement quality.

Do your feet ever cramp during exercise, walking or at night? Share your experience below.

Should you see a Physical Therapist or join a Pilates class.

It's one of the most common questions I hear.

The answer isn't always one or the other.

Physical therapy and Pilates can play different but complementary roles in helping people recover from injury, manage health conditions, improve mobility, build strength, and stay active throughout life.

Knowing when to seek a healthcare assessment, when Pilates may be appropriate, and when both can work together can help you make more informed decisions about your movement and wellbeing.

In my latest blog post, I explore the differences between physical therapy and Pilates, where they overlap, and how to determine which support may be right for you.

Five fun things to do in Vancouver this summer. - Pilates & 06/19/2026

Everyone is talking about FIFA coming to Vancouver next summer, but there are plenty of ways to enjoy the city that don't require a ticket to a match.

If you're looking for ways to stay active, connect with friends, and make the most of Vancouver's short summer season, here are five of my favourites:

🚲 Bike the Stanley Park Seawall
⛳ Play a round of Pitch & Putt at Stanley Park
🎾 Grab a racquet and hit the tennis courts
🏊 Swim at Kits Pool or Second Beach Pool
🏓 Try pickleball at your local community centre

What I love about these activities is that they don't feel like exercise. They're simply fun ways to enjoy the city, move your body, and spend time with others.

Fitness supports our health.
Fun supports our happiness.

The best summers make room for both.

What's on your Vancouver summer bucket list?
