From what we’ve seen in pre-season, both already look ready to contribute when called upon.

Lacey brings creativity and unpredictability in attack, while Amass looks more than capable of competing at left-back.

Being coached by Michael Carrick, training with the first team and getting opportunities in cups or off the bench could be just as valuable as going elsewhere.

Not every academy player needs a loan to develop.
