Our deepest condolences go out to the family, friends and teammates of the crew member from Walross 4 who passed away in this years RORC Transatlantic Race. Race organizers and rescue authorities tried their best and we salute their efforts. We mourn the loss of our fellow ocean racer.

Nice shot after finishing our 2nd Fastnet Race in Cherbourg. It was a race of ups and downs for us. Leading the fleet out of the Solent was a highlight, but we were soon outfoxed by our sistership Zou Lou, who got into more pressure in Lyme Bay and streaked away to a comfortable lead. The Celtic Sea was light, almost drifting, for much of the time until the wind finally filled in near Fastnet Rock. After a quick nod to the famous landmark, we set off after Zou Lou, who still held a significant advantage. One last park-up near Start Point on the English coast saw us take advantage and pass as Zou Lou fell into a hole. A straightforward sail to Cherbourg from there to finish about 20 minutes ahead of our very unlucky sistership. Chapeau to them for an excellent race! A good result on handicap was never in the cards as we spent a significant amout of time in very light winds. Our congrats to Shockwave on winning the MOCRA class and to offshore legends Miranda Merron & Halvard Mabire, who came a close second.

Our first competitive outing of 2025 was an attempt at the Plymouth La Rochelle WSSRC Record, currently held by our sister ship, Maserati. The routing looked perfect with a fresh Easterly for most of the course, the hardest bits were getting away from the lightish bits on the English coast and some light airs at the finish. In the end, we were an agonizing 27 seconds short of the 12H 15M record, just a stone's throw from the La Rochelle breakwater as time ran out. It was still a thrilling ride. Gennaker across the channel, flushed through L'Oussant and Raz De Sien (beautiful scenery) with hugely positive current, then a "death angle" reach along the Brittany/Vendee coast to the finish. The highlight was an intense hour averaging 36 kt; the tougher bit was the cold and a bit of fatigue.
All in all, quite the adventure sailing about 1,000 miles in two days between delivering to the start and returning to Cowes after finishing. On to the next - the ArMen race out of La Trinité starting on May 29, where we will rejoin battle with our sister ship Zou Lou. Thanks to the lads who kept pushing all the way - Jason Carroll, Brian Thompson, Alister Richardson, Pete Cu***ng, Ned Collier Wakefield, James Dodd, Westy Barlow and Chad Corning.

The Aegean 600 was quite the adventure with a healthy northerly “Meltimi” wind blowing very strongly for the duration of the race.

It was a contest marked by death as one of the crew members from the Pogo 44 “Heaven” lost her life after going overboard and sustaining a fatal head injury. The Argo team sends our deepest condolences to the victims family, friends, teammates and loved ones.

It was a brutal race with fresh, gusty winds keeping us very much on our toes for the duration. Our congratulations to the Zou Lou squad who pipped us to the post by 1M 20S to claim line honors and a new outright record for the race. It was a neat trick of conservative sailing and seamanship to get around the course with winds often over 40kt with a peak of 50kt through the Mykonos channel. It was regarded by our experienced crew as one of the hardest races they had ever done with endless sail changes and reefs in/out required to stay in line with the wildly changing conditions.

The results certainly aren’t important when put in context with a life lost. We’re happy to have completed the course and our hearts go out to the crew member from the yacht “Heaven” that lost her life.

The C600, as always, was a challenging race, and we are happy to come away with line honors and 1st overall in the MOCRA class. Though slower than our record-setting lap in 2022, it was still reasonably quick, and we made it to the dock in time for a late dinner on Tuesday evening. We had a fantastic race against our sistership MOD 70's Zou Lou and Lomosa. After an impressive port-tacking of the fleet, Zou Lou gave us a tough battle to the finish, erasing every lead we managed to eke out and applying constant pressure - we had to squeeze every drop of juice from the boat to come out ahead. Only after an intense reach from Barbuda to Redonda at speeds up to 40kt and a careful final beat to Antigua were we able to breathe a sigh of relief. Thanks to the sailors and shore support who made this race a success. Thanks also to the RORC, whose race management is second to none. A bit of a racing break for the boat now as she heads to Europe to take on the Aegean 600 in early July.
