Gerlach's Bowling Center

Gerlach's Bowling Center We are an eighteen lane bowling center that accommodates the whole family for open bowling or league

Although our location was built after Bill & Jack Gerlach returned from World War II; however, we say that Gerlach's Bowling Center opened in 1919. The original 4 bowling lanes in Lapeer opened in 1919 above the current Oddfellows building and Bill & Jack worked there before they left for the war. Even though our name was Lapeer Recreation until the late 1980s everyone refer to us as Gerlach's, so a name change to reduce confusion made sense. When Bill Gerlach's son, Daniel and his wife Vicki, started to take ownership the place really started to change and became a more modern family atmosphere. We are constantly renovating and keeping up with some of the greatest new features in the business. Gerlach's Bowling Center has features for every type of bowler. Our features include: automatic scoring & pinsetters, brand new synthetic lanes and approaches, automatic bumpers (for smaller bowlers), rental shoes sizes toddler size 6 to a mens 20, a bowling pro shop with an extensive inventory, a grill (snack bar), and a bar with a large assortment of bottled beers.

Vicki will still tell you we were getting our first Qubica scoring installed in September of 2001 and that our trainer was suppose to fly out on September 12th, so he stayed around Lapeer for a few days while flights were canceled.

Natalie found out about it in her third class period of her junior year of high school. Although she remembers it being talked about, she doesn't remember how the rest of the school day went. When she got home, her brother was glued to watching the news coverage.
